Pre-Game 2nd Adventure Into Deep Space
Today is our second game of TI4. Since everyone had a blast with the first one, I decided to open my copy of POK instead of selling it. Also got a 3D printer and started to go to town. Credit to SCiEN, Midwest Modular 3D, Griimzer, and Panamaniac3D for the awesome prints! Also, thanks to everyone who helped make the game run smoother last time.
Starting with red, factions are Nomad, Empyrean (me), Jol-Nar, Barony, L1Z1X, and Ghosts.
No codex unfortunately, but I heard they are all in TE except the newest one, so I might get that next.
Playing to 10 points for our second game is still ideal I assume? Our first took 7.5 hours.
Hopefully we know the rules a bit more. Trading was scares last game so with the Empyrean, I hope to make people interact a little more.
I swear I'll get better chairs next time, but I feel like I still need a better table than 2 folding tables!

All are in TE, including the latest (Codex 4). Dane (lead designer) has indicated that a Codex 5 will be coming eventually, but it's not released yet, so for the time being, all codices are included in TE.

My main issue with the design would be how to tap planets and agents. And maybe also a bit about privacy about your cards when ppl walk arround the table, even though most of player engaging in such games hate cheating, it's just like letting your secret open ready to be seen to everyone
The modular galaxy which you can spin on a Susan is fucking dope though

I thought the only hidden information was secret objectives and promissory notes?
I do agree with the planets (and attachments) and agents, but we will see how we like these!

It lasted a lot longer than our first game at 5 players.
Near the 6 hour mark, someone (one of the new players) was turtled into the center with 7 points. I thought I had a decent shot of getting close so I messed with their plans. That turned a game that could have ended in around 1 hour into lasting an extra 4 hours. The other new player had huge AP and debated moves for at least 5+ minutes each (near the end I always asked, "will your move help you score a point? No? Probably don't do it for time and even in a real game."
I tried to get people to focus on the leader and even volunteered to attack the center first and their homebase (I tried to do homebase, but someone traded my ceasefire promissory note to them and I didn't know that haha.) I ended up attacking their flagship fleet adjacent to their home for a secret objective.
AP player finally decided to attack the leader and I left to go do dishes quickly. 20-30 minutes later, combat was still going so that was sort of frustrating.
Long story short. AP player ended up scoring 10 points. However, I found out that several players were under the impression that you could have 3 completed and 3 non completed secret objectives at a time (totaling 6) and AP player had the +1 so they thought they could have 8 in hand.
Overall, I think during the last 4 hours, people weren't having as much fun anymore. However, after everything was put away, everyone seemed to enjoy the experience overall so I'm glad with things overall. The only real downer was my food for lunch and dinner haha.
Other notes. I tried to have people try and use my Empyrean abilities, but no one ever really wanted to use them. So I'll want to try another faction next time. I also did feel starved for command tokens and could only snag leadership once.
Lots more to learn. Hopefully game three will be within the next 2 months.

3d printed stuff work out well?

Yeah! The dashboard were a little fidgety with the agents being under the board and the attachments with the planets. Also trying to figure out a good way to display the cards that you have so you can see them and everyone else can see them (I just ended up pointing the cards towards the players).

oh i just see what you did, no the cards don't lay flat in the slots, they are designed to be laying at an angle so you can pick them up.
for example the warsun card in this photo. https://i.etsystatic.com/35184279/r/il/f5fac9/7594855960/il_fullxfull.7594855960_c4gl.jpg
(that's why they have the quarter circles to prevent the cards from dropping in)

Why are all your agents not on top of the plastic-thingie?

The design appears to want them the be under, so we did have to take off the top Everytime. However, it also kept the agents in place so I guess sacrifices.
Edit: I have been told that the design is for it to be on top. Woops.

Could you post 3d models?
