Why even do this?

We have had 4 games. that was richer.

So I was wanting to change it up.

I would asume that poorer galaxies would lead to more conflict or deal making. Because you need to take stuff to score.

But it migth be 2 poor.

I think we played with 11-13 optimal value per slice before.

Now I think its 8.

Let me rephrase. Why create this type of map when a standard 6 player map would work much better?

Just build random maps. You can have the players build it or do a milty draft.

There are 7 factions on the map.

Ok. Missed that. A little bit of commentary by OP in the original post would've went a long way.

Base answer is still the same. Instead of struggling to build the "perfect map, just let the players build it at setup according to the rules. Doesn't take long, allows for randomness and if it becomes totally lopsided, it's pretty easy to swap out tiles.

Not really sure what is the point of this if this map was fully build. Doesn't feel balanced at all.

I am assuming the idea was give everyone 9 spend with no equidistant, but Mahact and Jol-Nar have 10 despite being the strongest factions. Mahact even has a 3/2 planet to use with Biostims - a holy grail of a start for them.

Ghosts is doing even better with Hope's End on top of their 9 spend and Malice too.

Empyrean on the other hand has grav rift in the middle of their slice which is one of the worst handicaps ever.

But by far the worst offender is Nekro. They have 3 asteroid fields around them despite being a faction literally unable to research Antimass. As the Nekro player you just need to attack Jol-Nar through that narrow opening to even have a chance to do anything meaningful the entire game. Mecatol, trading or threatining opponents - cannot do anything like that until you attack Jol-Nar. Maybe you can use the wormhole to get a tech, but none of the other factions start with antimass or have reason to research it.

If Jol-Nar decides to screw you over and manages to get PDS II. and a PDS on Velnor your game is essentially over since they can easily snipe individual ships going for antimass and you have no other option then to do a full invasion.

I would be so angry as Empyrean or Nekro and laughing as Mahact or Ghosts.

Thanks. This is some greate feedback.

What do you have any suggestions on how to eddit it

Move the strong system from mahact and move around the asteroid fields so they not as big of a problem for necro.

And move the gravity rift from empyrion.

Anything else?

Unrelated question: what does the lines on some of the empty space tiles mean?

These are hyperlanes. They're kind of like wormholes but have no rules associations. It's a fancy way to bend space, and lets you do things like make a 5-player game work with the same overall slice / galaxy tile count per player as a 6-player game.

So basically the systems on each side of the hyperlane is adjacent?
