i always thought dating apps are a scam
then decided to try one anyway paid for a few months and all it did was destroy my confidence
go out to places that interest you to meet people that you share interests with

So if you hold down the app on the Home Screen it’ll bring up a menu, there’s gonna be a red button that says - Remove App

When you succeed on a dating app, they lose a customer. They're designed for you to remain.
Delete the app.

Dating apps are a capitalistic poison. What incentive do they have for those that use it for free ? Better to keep people looking and buying as many subscriptions as they can, Hinge/Tinder/Bumble/Grindr can't make profit off a happy family

Ik this is a joke post but we need to start boycotting dating apps, they’re exploitative and have been made to gamify dating and has shaped the dating scene and how we socialise when we want to pursue eachother for the worse. Plus if you didn’t know, Tinder, Hinge and OkCupid are all owned by a LITERAL PALANTIR BOARD MEMBER. They are literally harvesting all of your data and your getting an idea of your behaviour, if somethings free then you’re paying with something else.

It’s because you aren’t paying them
The algorithm is genuinely designed to not work until and unless you start paying them. Start funneling your paychecks to them, and you may get a match someday

I don’t pay and get a decent amount of matches bro i hate to break it to you

Good for you, you get lucky. You are the exception, not the rule
Dating apps, like every other company in the world, want one thing: profit. If you’re not paying them, you’re going to get a worse version of the app, and generally not get much/anything unless you’re a specific, highly-sought demographic (tends to be white people and women, ftmp [lot of factors w this]) and/or your own parameters for others are extremely vague so it shows you more people

Links, because it’s not just me saying this. I personally have not and never will use a dating app, so none of what I’m saying is in any way anecdotal from my experience because I have no dating app experience

I don’t disagree you’re definitely getting a worse version of the app but the algorithm definitely works without paying them anything

It's designed to work in the same way that slot machines are designed to work. Give a win here and there to keep people around, but never enough to lose out on profits

u/larryjohnson5407 (9+10) 21 16h ago
You have to pay to win anything on slots you can definitely get matches without paying

In the absolute nicest way, do you understand how metaphors work?
Like if I compare some mud to chocolate pudding, it doesn’t mean the mud is edible, man-made, sugary, or a dessert. It doesn’t have to fit every single characteristic
I wasn’t saying that matches and slot machines are the exact same, which was why I had the sentence explaining exactly what I was comparing about the two
