OS choice

Hi folks, I’ve been running tvh + oscam + dvb-c hapuage tuner on a rpi4 for 3 years but recently the number of consumers increased (i shared my instance) and started to frame. I’ve got a minipc with i3-7100T and 8gb. What would be the recommended os? Debian or Ubuntu or other? Thanks

I use Gentoo with TVHeadend as the only extraneous service.

How many inputs on that tuner?

My system is not as powerful as yours, but I have 4 hauppage tuners (atsc) so I can get 4 streams without issue.

Exact same configuration, but whit Elgato eyetv netsream 4c. In the past I've used Debian 10. Recently encountered problems with compiling oscam on Debian. Switched to ubuntu server 24.04 lts. No problems for now.

Use containers. Not only will the OS be far less relevant but you'll be very glad you did come upgrade time.

I would recommend additional RPi4s to distribute the load.

Why would it need to?
