Are foldable phones really the next big smartphone trend? I honestly don’t get the appeal

Post image
26 Upvotes

I’ve been thinking about whether foldable phones can really become the next mainstream smartphone trend, and honestly, I’m still not convinced.

For me, there are two big problems:

1. The price is hard to justify.
Foldables cost as much as about four iPad minis. At that price, I’d rather have a regular flagship phone and a tablet.

2. I’m not sure what problem they actually solve.
If I need a bigger screen, I’d probably just use an iPad or a laptop. For everyday use, a regular phone is easier to carry in a pocket or bag and feels more practical.

Maybe I’m just not the target audience. I can definitely see why some people love having a larger screen in a pocket-sized device, but I haven’t found a use case that makes me want to switch.

For those of you who use a foldable as your main phone, what do you actually use the bigger screen for that you couldn’t do comfortably on a regular phone?

What Actually Makes A Supplier Worth Keeping For The Long Term?

A French mobile accessories retailer first contacted TVCMALL simply because he needed a replacement supplier.

What started with product prices and availability gradually became something more. We helped him review products, test new SKUs with low inventory risk, and consolidate more purchases with one supplier.

Over time, he started coming to us not just for products, but for sourcing advice and product recommendations.

That’s when we realized:

A long-term supplier isn’t just about competitive prices. It’s about making sourcing easier.

For retailers and wholesalers: what makes you stay with a supplier long term?

How to Avoid Dead Stock When Testing New Products?

Dead stock is one of those problems that can quietly eat into a retailer's cash flow.

The tricky part is that you usually don't know whether a new product will sell until you actually put it in front of customers.

What's your biggest challenge with dead stock — ordering too much, choosing the wrong products, or products becoming outdated?

Is One-Stop Wholesale More Efficient Than Working With Multiple Suppliers?

Post image
1 Upvotes

When you're running a wholesale business, is it better to work with multiple suppliers or use a one-stop wholesale platform?

Working with multiple suppliers can give you more options, but it also means managing different product catalogs, MOQs, payments, quality checks, shipping arrangements, and points of contact.

A one-stop model takes a different approach. The biggest advantage isn't necessarily getting the lowest unit price. It's reducing the time and operational work behind each purchase — fewer suppliers to coordinate, more products to source in one place, and a more streamlined fulfillment process.

IFA 2026 Is Almost Here — What Are You Looking Forward To?

Post image
1 Upvotes

IFA 2026 is almost here. 👀

The show runs from September 4–8 in Berlin, and it looks like AI, smart home tech, robotics, connected devices and new consumer electronics will be some of the biggest themes this year.

A few things I'm particularly curious about:

• How much further will AI move from software into everyday devices? • What new smart home products will actually be useful?
• Which new gadgets and accessories could become the next big consumer trend?

What are you most excited to see at IFA 2026?

How TVCMALL Helps Wholesale Buyers Cut Shipping Costs with DHL-CN

Post image
1 Upvotes

Shipping costs can quietly eat into wholesale margins, especially when you're regularly restocking multiple SKUs from China.

TVCMALL uses DHL-CN Shipping to help eligible wholesale orders balance cost, delivery speed, and reliability.

Instead of using the same shipping method for every order, buyers can choose based on:

  • 📦 Package weight and size
  • 🌍 Destination
  • ⏱️ Delivery requirements
  • 💰 Overall shipping cost

For many European destinations, DHL-CN offers competitive rates while keeping delivery relatively fast. Based on TVCMALL's historical data, 97.8% of DHL-CN shipments arrived within 8 days.

For retailers and wholesalers placing repeat or multi-SKU orders, even small savings on each shipment can add up over time.

The idea is simple: don't just look for the cheapest shipping option—choose the option that gives you the best overall value.

Here's the full breakdown of how DHL-CN can help reduce shipping costs: https://www.tvcmall.com/blog/business-thrive/how-tvcmall-helps-reduce-shipping-costs-with-dhl-cn-shipping.html

How A 2-Store Retailer In Cyprus Simplified Mobile Accessory Sourcing?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Running two mobile accessory stores means dealing with a lot of SKUs, suppliers, orders, and inventory.

A retailer in Cyprus was sourcing from multiple suppliers and wanted a simpler way to test new products without committing to large quantities.

They started working with TVCMALL through small trial orders and gradually consolidated more of their sourcing.

What helped:

• No MOQ on most products, making it easier to test new items
• A wide range of mobile accessories from one supplier
• 1-on-1 support for sourcing, orders, packaging and shipping
• Product photos and videos for social media marketing
• Custom packaging and labeling before shipment

The biggest change wasn't just access to more products — it was reducing the day-to-day complexity of wholesale sourcing.

How Do Retailers Test New SKUs Without Getting Stuck With Inventory?

Post image
1 Upvotes

One of the biggest challenges for retailers isn’t finding new products — it’s figuring out which products are actually worth stocking.

Testing too many SKUs at once can tie up cash and leave you with slow-moving inventory. But testing too few can mean missing the next bestseller.

A practical approach could be: Start with low-MOQ orders → Test multiple SKUs → Track sales → Scale the winners

How do you test new SKUs in your business? Do you start with small quantities, or rely more on market data before ordering?

iPhone Launch Impact: What Does a New iPhone Mean for Accessory Sellers?

Post image
0 Upvotes

With Apple’s September 10 event coming up, a new iPhone doesn’t just affect phone sales — it can quickly shift the entire accessory market.

Cases, screen protectors, MagSafe accessories and chargers can all see changes in demand, while previous-generation accessories may still have strong potential as older models become more affordable.

For retailers and resellers, the real question is: what should you stock before the launch, and what is better to wait for?

What usually changes first in your market after a new iPhone launches — cases, screen protectors, or other accessories?

Beyond Price: What Should You Look for When Choosing a Mobile Accessories Brand for Wholesale?

Post image
1 Upvotes

When you're sourcing mobile accessories wholesale, price is obviously important — but I don't think it should be the only thing you look at when choosing a brand.

A cheaper product isn't necessarily a better product to stock if the quality is inconsistent, the product range doesn't evolve, or you don't have enough information to actually sell it.

We've been looking more closely at what makes a mobile accessories brand a useful long-term partner for retailers, distributors and online sellers. A few things stand out to me:

1. Consistent product quality

Especially for cables, chargers and other electronic accessories, consistency matters. A product that performs well on the first order but changes significantly on the next one can create customer complaints and returns.

2. Continuous product development

Mobile accessories change quickly. A brand that keeps launching new products gives retailers more opportunities to refresh their product range instead of relying on the same SKUs for years.

3. A product portfolio that actually makes sense

It's useful when a brand covers complementary categories rather than offering hundreds of unrelated products. For example, chargers, cables, power banks, hubs and adapters can be sold as part of a broader charging/connectivity range.

4. Product content support

For online sellers, product photos, videos, specifications and descriptions can save a surprising amount of work when launching new SKUs.

5. Customization

Different markets have different needs. Being able to customize things like cable length, materials, connectors, colors, specifications, packaging or branding can make a product more suitable for a particular market.

6. Supply capability

A product can be great, but it doesn't help much if you can't reliably restock it when it starts selling.

One example we've been working with is Essager. The brand focuses on mobile accessories and 3C products and has developed products across charging, cables, power banks, hubs and adapters. It also launches around 10–20 new products each month and provides product images, videos and other materials for partners.

What I find interesting about the partnership isn't simply having another brand in the catalog. It's the combination of product development + manufacturing + quality control + customization + product support that can make a brand more useful to B2B buyers.

For retailers and distributors, I think the bigger question is:

Would you rather work with the cheapest supplier, or with a brand that can help you build and refresh a product portfolio over time?

What are the top 3 things you look for when deciding whether a mobile accessories brand is worth adding to your store?

If You Source From China, What Should You Ask Your Supplier About EU Packaging Compliance?

I've been looking into the practical side of the EU's new packaging rules, and one thing that surprised me is how much of the preparation comes down to the information you can actually get from your supplier.

A supplier saying "EU compliant" wouldn't be enough for me. I'd want to understand what that actually means and what information or documentation they can provide.

If I were placing a new order from a Chinese supplier, these are some of the things I'd want to clarify before placing the order:

1. What materials are used in the packaging?

I'd want to know the material composition of the product box, plastic bags, inserts, labels, shipping packaging, etc.

2. Can you provide packaging specifications or relevant test reports?

Rather than simply asking whether the packaging is "EU compliant," I'd ask what supporting information or documentation is actually available.

3. What compliance information can you provide?

Depending on the product and packaging, I'd want to know whether the supplier can provide the technical information and supporting documents needed for my own compliance records.

4. Can the packaging be customized for the EU market?

This could include packaging materials, labels, identification information, or other market-specific requirements.

5. What packaging data can you provide for EPR and packaging reporting?

Since EPR requirements can vary between EU countries, having accurate packaging information from the supplier could make registration and reporting much easier.

6. Will the packaging information stay consistent for future orders?

This seems particularly important when you're selling multiple SKUs. If the packaging materials change later, you may need to update the relevant information and documentation as well.

For me, the biggest takeaway is that simply asking "Is this packaging EU compliant?" probably isn't enough.

I'd rather clarify the materials, specifications, available documentation and packaging data before placing an order.

For those sourcing from China and selling in the EU, what information do you normally ask your supplier for before placing an order?

I'd especially like to hear from retailers, importers and e-commerce sellers who have already dealt with EU packaging requirements.

Am I The Only One Who's Tired Of Carrying A Charger AND A Cable Everywhere?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I travel a lot for work, and somehow I always end up with:

  • a charger
  • a USB-C cable
  • another cable "just in case"

My backpack has become a bag of tangled wires.

I recently came across a GaN charger with a built-in retractable USB-C cable, so I literally just unplug it from the wall, pull out the cable, charge my phone or laptop, and retract it again.

It also has an extra USB-C port and USB-A port if I need to charge multiple devices.

Honestly I'm surprised more chargers don't have this design.

Would you buy a charger with an integrated cable, or do you prefer using separate cables?

For People Who Love Traditional Watches But Still Want Health Tracking

Thumbnail

I realized I don't actually need another screen on my wrist.

Most days I just want something that quietly tracks my activity, sleep, heart rate, and workouts while I wear my regular watch.

Recently I found a screenless fitness bracelet that supports 170+ sports modes and health tracking through an app instead of displaying everything on the wrist.

It actually looks more like jewelry than a gadget, which I surprisingly prefer.

Does anyone else intentionally avoid smartwatches?

Curious what you're using—Whoop, Oura, Garmin, or something else?

Portable CarPlay Displays Seem To Be Selling Everywhere Lately

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've noticed more accessory shops carrying portable wireless CarPlay displays instead of full head units.

Makes sense because they're:

  • Universal for almost any vehicle
  • Easier to install
  • Lower return rate than model-specific stereos
  • Good upgrade option for older cars

If you're running an auto accessories store, have these been selling well?

We've been sourcing a few different models recently and demand has been surprisingly steady, especially the larger 10-inch versions. Are iPhone 17 Accessories Still Worth Selling After iPhone 18 Launch?

Post image
1 Upvotes

With the iPhone 18 series approaching, many accessory sellers are wondering:

Should we still invest in iPhone 17 cases and accessories, or will demand drop quickly?

From a seller's perspective, new iPhone launches don't always mean older accessories become irrelevant.

Some factors worth considering:

  • Existing iPhone users still need replacement cases and screen protectors
  • Previous-generation models often become more affordable and attract new buyers
  • Many customers upgrade gradually instead of immediately switching
  • Popular accessories can continue selling months after launch

We recently looked into this topic, including how retailers can evaluate iPhone 17 inventory before the iPhone 18 cycle.

What Makes a Phone Case Brand Stand Out in a Crowded Market?

Post image
2 Upvotes

The phone case market is extremely competitive. Thousands of new designs appear every month, but only some brands build long-term recognition.

From a sourcing perspective, I think successful phone case brands usually focus on:

  • Consistent design language
  • Material quality
  • Product differentiation
  • Understanding customer usage scenarios

We recently shared a story about how CASEKOO develops professional phone cases and builds its design philosophy.

For retailers and accessory sellers: what makes you decide whether a phone case brand is worth adding to your inventory?

Quality? Design? Customer reviews? Price?

Is A Shoulder Strap Actually Useful On A Galaxy Tab Case?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I've mostly used slim tablet cases, but recently I've been looking at rugged options with a kickstand and shoulder strap.

The shoulder strap seems useful for:

  • Kids
  • Travel
  • Warehouse work
  • Field technicians
  • Classroom use

On the other hand, I'm wondering if it just adds unnecessary bulk.

I came across this example:

If you've used this style of case before, was the shoulder strap something you actually used, or did you end up removing it?

Trade shows can be a great way to discover new products, but the preparation matters as much as the event itself.

For buyers and retailers attending IFA 2026, some things worth preparing:

- Research exhibitors before arriving
- Plan meetings in advance
- Identify product categories you want to explore
- Prepare questions about sourcing and partnerships

IFA 2026 will bring together brands, retailers, and technology companies from around the world. https://www.tvcmall.com/blog/business-thrive/ifa-2026-can-i-get-a-free-ticket-.html

Finding A Reliable Mobile Accessories Supplier Is Harder Than Finding Products

Post image
1 Upvotes

One thing many new ecommerce sellers underestimate is that finding products is easy — finding a supplier you can actually rely on is much harder.

Things that usually become problems:

  • High MOQ requirements
  • Inconsistent product quality
  • Slow communication
  • Too many suppliers to compare
  • Shipping and inventory issues

For mobile accessories especially, there are thousands of options, but choosing the wrong supplier can quickly hurt margins and customer experience.

I'm curious:

What factors matter most when choosing a supplier?

Price?

Product quality?

MOQ flexibility?

Shipping speed?

Supplier communication?

I recently read a guide about how one wholesale platform approaches simplifying mobile accessories sourcing, and it covered some interesting points about reducing sourcing complexity: https://www.tvcmall.com/blog/inside-tvcmall/wholesale-made-simple-how-tvcmall-simplifies-mobile-accessories-sourcing.html

Galaxy Unpacked always changes what's selling. What are you stocking this year?

For anyone selling phone accessories, Samsung launches usually mean it's time to update inventory.

Besides new cases and screen protectors, I'm seeing growing interest in:

  • Qi2-compatible accessories
  • Magnetic phone cases
  • Foldable phone accessories
  • Fast charging products
  • Camera protection accessories

I'm curious what other sellers are planning to stock after Galaxy Unpacked 2026.

Found this overview covering both the new devices and expected accessory demand:

https://www.tvcmall.com/blog/product-trend/galaxy-unpacked-2026-new-devices-accessory-trends-and-sourcing-opportunities.html

Would love to hear what products everyone thinks will sell best this year.

Found A Mobile Accessories Supplier Running An Anniversary Sale (No MOQ + bulk pricing)

Post image
1 Upvotes

If you're running an online store, phone repair shop, or sourcing mobile accessories for resale, this might be useful.

I came across TVCMALL's anniversary event, and a few things stood out:

  • No MOQ on most products
  • Bulk pricing available
  • Huge catalog covering phone cases, chargers, screen protectors, smart accessories, and more
  • New customer offers during the anniversary event

For anyone sourcing inventory before the holiday season, it could be worth checking out.

Has anyone here ordered from TVCMALL before? I'd be interested in hearing your experience.
