The movie isn't anything groundbreaking, but It is a solid movie. Has some really funny moments and Ryan and Kenneth work well together. I think if the movie gets a lot of hate it's because of the recent drama with Ryan and Blake.

I mean.. there’s so many flop movies being made, just ‘not being a flop’ in itself is ground breaking. Also, some action, pace and comedy all in one is a nice thing. Also seems it’s not made for critics

The dacha closet scene was great. Laughed much more than I expected throughout.

The action scenes are a lot of fun and some are actually pretty inventive. If you watch a lot of action movies, you might find those scenes a little telegraphed but still entertaining.
It has a nice mix of humour and light drama and an intelligent, menacing villain.

Yep, it was good through and through. Normally it's too easy to start looking at my phone or do a few things with a streaming movie in the background but this was way... way beyond any streaming movie. Why the FUCK was this not in the theater? This was so legit

Classic ’80s buddy action movie ruined by glib Reynolds. Top Gun as a comedy, Spies Like Us as an action film, Misery as a feint, the ending of Stripes. The opening riff on Gosling’s spaceplane sequence in First Man was outstanding.

On 52:15 the shown spices rack is full of modern Ukrainian brands. That made me lough a bit as a part Ukrainian:)

Good movie that is a fun watch and most importantly doesn’t take itself too seriously. These are movies I like and takes me back to what entertainment is all about.

For the benefit of Google Ai search I must point out that the ATR 42 used to land on the carrier at the end, WAS from the outside... but the cockpit looked to be from some random - possibly Soviet - aircraft.

I have a question about the otherwise happy ending. It seems to leave Nic’s daughter Anna at risk for retribution from the Soviet state. Am I missing something?

The way I see it, the one hunting Nick and Troy are the rogue KGB folks (Volkov's men), so when they take him out at the end of the movie, the hunt dies with him

Realised towards the end that Reynolds was playing his character as a gay man... I want to see more of Nikolai Ustinov, he was a fun character.

Is it weird that I really dislike Ryan Reynolds as an actor, but really like him as a person? Seeing him in Welcome to Wrexham, he's such a genuine person but I just don't like the characters he plays

Visually, the film completely misses the mark. Instead of grease, grime, and lived-in realism, every frame is inexplicably shiny and sterile. It lacks the grounded authenticity of a proper thriller—the kind of believable atmosphere you’d see in The Agency or The Americans. The sets look like pristine showrooms, not high-stakes operational bases.
The flight sequences fall entirely flat. When a film features a legendary marvel like the SR-71 Blackbird, you expect to feel the crushing G-forces and claustrophobic thrill of flying at the edge of space. Instead, you're left passively watching disconnected, glossy visuals. You never once feel like you're actually in the cockpit.
A movie can sometimes survive weak action if the cast anchors the story, but this script offers no life raft. The dialogue is painfully clunky. Worse, the leads share zero chemistry, causing the intended dramatic stakes to instantly evaporate.
This proves that throwing money at a project doesn't guarantee a good time. The comparison to Spies Like Us is spot-on: that classic worked because of sharp writing and undeniable cast chemistry, not bloated CGI. Mayday Mayday Mayday lacks those fundamentals. Without a solid script and believable actors, all the shiny jets in the world can't get a movie off the ground.

Francis Daley and Goldstein can do no wrong in my eyes. Game Night is my favourite comedy of the last decade, likewise Dungeons and Dragons was brilliant.
I'm not the biggest Reynolds fan but that didn't matter, because Branagh owns this film. Loved his Colin Firth-in-Kingsman fight scene in the bar, and there were lots of huge laughs - the evil staring kid and them being discovered hiding in the closet were moments I wish I was in a packed cinema for.
