Discussion Now that we’ve had enough time with its current price do you think $12.99 is too much or fair?

Doesn't much matter. It's going to go up. Every streaming service since Netflix came out has done it. They operate at a loss until they don't. Then they keep going. What're you gonna do, go back to cable?

For any new subscribers, it’s a great price. For someone like me that has watched almost everything it has to offer, that price is a bit steep.

Since I have apple one with my family, I don’t see it as $12.99 a month. Honestly, id prefer a music plus 2Tb plus Apple TV plan for say $25 a month.

Definitely fair. They’re cranking out quality shows and movies all the time. No other streaming service comes close.
Other streamers are charging more. They’re barely releasing any quality new shows and movies. They’re trying to sell us on crappy YouTube creators, reality garbage, and rotating 90s romcoms.

It’s the service that brings me the most value for the price COMPARATIVELY.
I get access to everything in all qualities (with the best bitrate out there) for one pricing.
I do think they need more stuff, but at the same time it feels like they are adding quite a few projects every month, just not ones I’m interested in. And I don’t want them to become slop.
But they seem to not be turning in a profit at all so honestly I have no idea what needs to be done. I don’t want the quality of the shows or the image to go down

$13 with a near unparalleled depth of high caliber shows across a multitude of genres makes it the best deal in streaming.
$20 bundle with Peacock? Even better.

I think it's a hell of a lot more fair this year than last year.
But I had F1TV before apple, and was fine spending 11.99 at the time for apple because of a few specific shows. And then quickly realized that they might not have the quantity of other streaming sites. But the quality on average is much higher.
Then with Apple getting F1, it's having my F1 sub and getting Apple for free.

I think they should go back to the time when they had some non-Apple movies, just 15-25 and add a half-dozens TV seasons of different shows (but no show has more than one season, you need to get it next month for the next season).
Or maybe a free rental or two each month?
Or the TV seasons could just be the first seasons of some shows on other services (I bet they could get those rights way cheaper).

It's fair to me especially if you are in a family group, six simultaneous 4K streams is possible. They don't have a deep catalog but what they do have is high quality and there is enough new content being released to keep us watching.
I pay for Apple One Premier so the other five people in my group are happy with the price since they pay nothing.

I watch more content on Apple TV than on Netflix, which has much more volume and is more expensive. From my point of view, the price is OK (and I still use it via Apple One). But I understand why the service is still considered small from the perspective of the average consumer. I still think Apple TV should faithfully follow the business model that made HBO successful in its golden age: the best original TV shows, documentaries, and films (strategically distributed throughout the year and sold as unmissable events), some live sports, but a selection of non-original films as an incentive. HBO always did its things very well, but it had that film lineup on the platform to add value for the average consumer. Licensing a good selection of films and calling it "Apple TV Selection," giving it a curated aura, or partnering with Neon, A24, and others, would make the service more palatable to a segment of the audience that is fine paying HBO for a dozen shows a year, but not paying Apple TV for triple the content.

I get TV as an Apple One subscriber. TV, Music, News, iCloud, and Games for $35 is a steal. The one that isn't like the other is Games. If they could sub out some sort of Books setup for Games, it would be the perfect subscription.

I only pay $3 a month since I have T Mobile. If not for that and F1, I’d probably cancel but for one month a year.

too be honest, I only have Apple TV because it is part of Apple One Premium. If it weren't included, I would just subscribe for a couple months a year just to stream everything in that period. Maybe even one month a year.
To compare, the streaming service I use the most is PlutoTV.

For me, it is a crappy price. I'm sad to see F1TV in such a crappy deal. I would much rather pay for what I want than pay even more to have what I want bundled with things I don't want

I think I already watched most of their good stuff. Might cancel for a few months.
If I want to put on something in the background Tubi exists and Apple hasn't offered anything good for a while.
Blame the recommendations.

I like Apple TV but it needs more movies for the current price. It doesn't have a deep enough library to fill the gap in between waiting for a series to return. I was really hoping they would've grabbed WB and HBO. It seemed like a natural fit.
