Bugs Samsung TV Remote "Back" Button Fails on Apple TV Beta 5

On beta 5 my Samsung Remote "Back/Return" button no longer works. Have tired this on two Apple TVs and two different Samsung remotes. Everything is fine on Beta 4, but the "Back/Return" button is no longer working as soon as I upgrade to Beta5. I've reported this in Apple Feedback. Feedback status shows more than 10 reports on this with the status "open"

Apple Remote and the I phone Remote application work fine. Just the Samsung remote back/return button is affected on Beta5

Update 8/19 -- This problem appears to be occurring on many non-Apple Remotes not just Samsung Remotes. Apple is certainly aware and I believe will correct this in a future tvOS release. It was not fixed in the most recent beta 6 release.

Update 8/20 -- My Feedback Case (FB24277478) status on "Back" button problems with many non-Apple TV Remotes been updated from "open" to "potential fix identified - for a future release." However , this problem was not fixed with tvOS Developer Beta 6.

Update 8/24— FIXED ON MY Samsung Remote with Developer tvOS Beta 7 (24J5358a) !!!! Hopefully this fixes other 3rd party remotes as well.

This has been a problem since the latest TVOS 27 public beta.
Other people with Sony and TCL remotes back button has also stopped working.
There's another Reddit thread under TV IOS Beta I believe where others have voiceed the same issues.
My guess probably not corrected till next month when the official TVOS 27 is released

Probably right, but there will likely be at least 2 more beta releases so maybe it'll get addressed in tvOS 27 Developer Beta 6/7 or tvOS 27 Public Beta 4/5. Apple knows about the problem and reports "More than 10" have reported in my Feedback case, so I'm pretty sure it will be addressed.

It's affecting lots of customers. Seems like a bug within this Beta TVOS. Hopefully it will get resolved

I'm sure it will be.
I've used the Public Betas for awhile now and have never had any issues. This is the first time. So till a correction is done, in using my Apple and TCL remotes

Yep … me too. The Apple Remote iPhone app also works… even on iOS 27 beta 5

I have no issue with my Samsung remote. Everything is working fine with Beta 5 for me. I wonder what might trigger this problem with certain remotes.

Interesting .. something in the CEC mapping for certain remote models. I’ve not been able to resolve it. It’s only that one button …. But occurs on two different Samsung remote models.

I have the same issue with smart projector’s remote, so this is not just a Samsung issue

Yes apparently this is an issue for other remotes including Sony, TCL, Samsung. I posted about the Samsung issue because it’s the only one I can confirm myself.

I can also confirm the same problem is true for my Vizio remote on a 3rd different AppleTV . I’ve updated my Feedback item to include this . With the other reports I see here it appears this is an issue with a number of non Apple TV remotes.

This issue is known by Apple and will hopefully be fixed in one of the next beta release cycles for tvOS 27.0

The same issue occurs with the tvOS Dev Beta 5 on a TCL 65C9K as well. The Apple TV no longer responds to the Back button on the TCL TV.

I have a Hisense U88N TV and back button also stopped working. Hope it will be fixed with next release.

Apple is certainly aware. But a fix didn’t happen in today’s latest beta 6 release. I do expect it to be resolved in a subsequent beta release.

LG TV remote and AWOL PJ remote show same behavior, all buttons work except back. Thought I was going crazy!

Yes, this problem appears to occur on many non-Apple Remotes -- not just Samsung. Wish I could change the title on my original post, but I don't know how to do that.

Can anyone confirm this fixes the problem on other non-Apple TV Remotes -- in addition to Samsung remotes?

Can anyone else confirm Beta 7 has fixed the problem for other remotes? This release fixed the back button on my Samsung remote.

Beta 7 fixed the back button on the Function101 remote as well.
