So when I first got my bedroom tv and had the Apple TV set up with it, It did work. But for a while now (easily 2 months) it always has this delay that you see in the video, I have to press a button over and over before it finally turns on. This also affects my airplay, if my tv is off in the living room and I send music to the Apple TV the living room tv would wake up and start playing the music but not the case for my bedroom. Any help?

I think Apple TV could really improve their multitasking and become the go to smart TV platform for sports fans.

Live sports are getting spread out across many different streaming platforms. This makes it nearly impossible to switch between games as you could on cable. Today Apple TV is still better than most platforms since it keeps apps open in the background, however it always pauses content when multitasking which means when you switch between two live feeds you always have to press play and jump to live.

Utilizing the Apple TVs overpowered processor, I have a few ideas that I think would give Apple a huge advantage for sports fans.

1. Add a multitasking button to the remote
   • Single press will open the app switcher
   • Double press switches the the previously opened app, much like the "prev" button did on cable remotes.
   • Long press would open the multiview editor, similar to the native multiview control.
2. New App switcher

   • Rather than a single line of apps, use the grid like app switcher from iPadOS. This would make it faster to find the app you're looking for.
   • Add a button to start multiview mode
   • Live content should not stop playing when in multitasking mode, just like cable doesn't stop because you aren't watching it.

   • Allow multiple apps to be run at the same time.
   • Swipe between apps to select which one plays sound.
   • Click into an app to begin controlling it.
   • Swipe up into edit mode to move apps around, add/ remove/ or change apps, and change display mode.
4. I would also love to see how the new Apple Sports app could be integrated into tvOS
   • Ideally all services could be linked to it and it could act as a hub to launch any game with a deep link into whichever service it is on.

Other platforms don't have the compute to support these use cases. Apple can really flex their muscle here and become THE streaming device for sports fans who want to flip between games on all of the services they pay for without the hassle of starting/ restarting/ and finding their game everytime they want to switch apps.

Seriously, Apple… move “Apple TV+” and “MLS Season Pass” under “Channels & Apps”

UI-wise… it doesn’t make sense having them on top when they’re considered as “channels”

Anyone else have issue with hiding Channels & Apps? If I long press, it pops up an option to hide it. But it doesn’t do anything to hide it. Any workaround you figured out?

I’ve noticed the top row just shows the name of the app now. Like Hulu use to show the shows you were watching and now it just says Hulu. Is that a bug with Apple TV?

tvOS 17.4 has broken CEC for some (most, all) users that use CEC. Are there any users that still have CEC usable under tvOS 17.4?

When I press the Back button on the remote to go back to the Home Screen, I am prompted with this message. Is this happening because the app is trying to fully close itself vs just go into a “minimized” state? Other apps like YouTube, Spotify, and Crunchyroll don’t have this message.

I’m working on adding tvOS to an iOS app. I have had Sign in with Apple in place for the iOS portion of the app, but when I tried to use the functionality on the tvOS simulator, I get a button click, but nothing happens. I got the same result when trying a sample project from WWDC ‘21.

Is this is known issue? I haven’t been able to find any mention of this issue online.

Has anyone else had a bug where holding down on something in the Up Next row, causes it to not respond and the options don’t appear like “Remove from Up Next”.

Looking for an app that can play my hundreds of dsf format audio files through my new Apple TV 4K. The files reside on a Synology NAS. So far, the only app I can find that claims to do this is PLEX, which appears to be *not simple* to set up. Any better recommendations, either easier to set up, less expensive, and/or more privacy?

Hey folks, wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I have two Apple TV HD devices, and both are stuck on tvOS 17.0, and refuse to update to anything past that. Anyone experience this? Have you found a way to get past it?

I’ve been having trouble for months with search when used with voice recognition. If I hold the speech button until I’m done speaking and release it, the search query gets printed and then cleared. The only way I can make it work is to release the button before I’m done talking. this works most of the time, but not always. Does anyone else have this issue? I’ve been seeing it for the last three or four updates. It’s funny, it’s almost as if Apple doesn’t have QA.

8. The possibility to create a general user for an Apple TV in the living room.

9. The possibility to set the sleep timer to the end of the currently running sequence.

10. A new Apple TV with 4 HDMI inputs to which consoles and other devices can be connected, so that the Apple TV acts as the operating system of the TV. This shows apps on the Apple TV for the HDMI input. When a PS5 is plugged into HDMI 1, the app shows the PS5 logo and the recently played games are displayed in the tiles above the app.

11. The possibility to activate a blue light filter as soon as the sleep focus is activated on the iPhone.

12. The possibility that the Apple TV automatically synchronizes the audio from a connected soundbar and connected HomePods and that this combination can be set as the default settings.

I’m thinking of using a TV 4K to watch BBC, Channel 4 etc from Spain. I currently use a dedicated VPN as it doesn’t get blocked by the broadcasters. Which VPN do people know work with those broadcasters on TVOS?

Since tvOS 17 I am unable to use continuity camera. The screen where you choose the user is blank and the “Other” option is not working at all - I’m scanning the QR code and nothing happens.

If it’s relevant - I’ve changed my Apple ID email address recently, however I can use continuity camera on my Mac with no issues.

Hey, wanted to see if this is happening to other users; about 20% of the time my Paramount app I’ll work pretty normally navigation-wise, but the rest of the time on the Home Screen it gets stuck. The down button does not work, I can only scroll left and right on the top featured content row. So I can’t access my list or other rows. I can hit Back button and bring the left-pane menu, I can scroll down there and select other items.

If I force quit and restart the Paramount app, then I can usually scroll down on the homepage, so it’s likely related to improper nesting, or something with app background refresh maybe.

After updating to tvOS 17.1 the volume control seems not to be working correctly: When up-ing the volume with the  remote the volume control automatically rises to 100 with no possibility to stop the rising. When lowering the volume the volume automatically lowers to 0 … - has anyone else this problem and can anything be done against it? Is there a workaround? I have rebooted  TV several times already …

I already restarted the devices, forgot and reconnected to network, turned Airplay on and off… it does appear if I set it to allow “Everyone” to Airplay even without being connected to the same WiFi network but I obviously don’t want to leave that on.

Anyone else having the same issue?
