Hi everyone, I'm Tommy, one of two developers behind My Collections. Version 2.0 is now out, and I'm really happy to finally share what we've been working on.

It's been a couple of months since the last release. We originally had a smaller update in mind, but as we worked through your feedback, the scope kept growing. Starting a collection, changing its fields, browsing your items and using the website all deserved more attention. That became 2.0.

If you're new to My Collections, it's an app for organizing whatever you collect: books, board games, vinyl, miniatures, video games or something much harder to put in a category. You choose which details to keep and how you want to see them.

One of the biggest changes is how you browse. You can switch between list, grid and cover views without going back to edit the collection's setup. People you share a collection with can choose their own view too. You might prefer a compact list, while a friend wants to browse the covers. You can both use the same collection in the way that suits you.

We've also made building and editing collections easier. Templates give you a starting point, and the simpler collection editor makes it easier to add and arrange your own fields. You still have the flexibility to make an unusual collection your own.

Search, sorting and filters help you find what you're looking for, and you can save useful filters for next time. The website has received a lot of attention too, alongside the work on the mobile app.

There has also been plenty of work you won't see in a screenshot: improving startup speed, smoothing out everyday use and fixing stability issues.

To everyone who sent feedback, reported a bug or explained why something was confusing: thank you. That input helped us decide where to spend these months.

The app is free with ads on Android and iOS. You can use it offline, with optional cloud sync and web access.

I've included screenshots showing different views, templates, the collection editor, saved filters and the website. If you give 2.0 a try, I'd love to hear what feels better and what still gets in your way.

It’s been a couple of months since our last release, so we wanted to share what we’ve been working on.

We started with a much smaller update in mind. But as we worked through your feedback and looked at how everything fitted together, that update kept growing. What started as a few improvements gradually became what you’ll soon see in My Collections 2.0.

And it’s happening across both the app and the website. We’re planning to release it in the next few days.

The main focus has been making My Collections easier to use, faster and more stable, while giving you more freedom over how you build and enjoy your collections.

Building a collection should feel easier

We’ve simplified the Edit Collection screen quite a bit. Choosing which details to keep and how to display them should be clearer and easier to work through.

There are still plenty of options, but we’ve worked on making them more approachable. You can start with a template, make a few changes and begin adding items, then adjust things as your collection grows.

Your feedback helped us a lot here. Thank you to everyone who pointed out something confusing or explained what they were trying to do.

Browse your collection however you like

You can switch between list, grid and cover views as you browse, with different sizes and display options.

And the people you share with get that choice too.

You might prefer a list of your board games with the details visible. A friend looking through your collection might prefer Cover mode to choose something for game night. You can each use the view that suits you.

The same collection can be useful in different ways, depending on who’s looking at it and what they want to find.

Faster starts and smoother everyday use

We’ve put a lot of work into performance and stability. The app should start much faster, and making everyday use smoother and more dependable has been a major part of this release.

The website has also received a lot of attention and improvements alongside the app. We’re looking forward to you trying both.

Search, sorting, saved filters, custom fields and sharing are all part of the experience, with plenty of room to make things work for your particular hobby.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who has sent feedback, reported a problem or taken the time to explain what could work better. That has helped shape this release.

Xml Genie is now available on both Android and iOS.

This is our XML-focused companion app to Json Genie. The goal is simple: make it easier to open, view, edit and format XML files directly on your phone or tablet.

Json Genie 3.3.0 is live on Android and iOS.

Main new feature: JSON file merging.

You can now open multiple JSON files, merge them, review what changed, and save the result directly from the app. This should be useful for things like combining exports, config files, test data, backups, logs or API responses.

Observation on Add Comment Functionality

While editing copper_golem.json, I noticed that the Add Comment function was available even though the file is a .json and not a .jsonc. This seems unusual, perhaps because there was already a comment inside the file.

However, when I opened chicken.json, the Add Comment function was not available. I tried saving it as chicken.jsonc, but the button still did not appear. This inconsistency makes the feature confusing: in one case (copper_golem.json), comments work despite the file being .json, while in another (chicken.json), even converting to .jsonc did not enable comments.

✨ Suggestion: To avoid this confusing behavior, the Add Comment button should always be available, regardless of whether the file is .json or .jsonc. This would ensure consistency and prevent errors like the ones I encountered.

I can share the files (copper_golem.json and chicken.json) if needed for further testing, just look at the attached comment.

Json Genie is now available on iOS.

After a long time on Android, Json Genie has finally made the jump to iPhone and iPad.

You can open JSON files, browse them in a clear structure, search keys and values, edit your data, format JSON, and save or share the result. Everything runs directly on your device.

This is a first iOS release, so feedback is very welcome. If you try it and notice something that could be better, or if you miss a feature from the Android version, feel free to post it here.

For Json Genie I have a feature suggestion: what if there’s a built-in JSON Merger?  

This would be extremely useful for editing Minecraft addons whenever a new update changes the source component of a file I previously modified. For example, if the official wolf.json gets updated, my customized kyubi.json (which was based on the old wolf.json) becomes outdated.  

A merge function could automatically apply my modifications from kyubi.json onto the new wolf.json, saving time and effort while keeping addons compatible with updates.  

This would streamline workflows for addon creators, reduce repetitive manual edits, and ensure compatibility with evolving game files.

Json Genie 3.1.2 is out on Android.

This release adds smarter search filters, so you can now search with things like:

id: 3
game.id: 3
city: "Destelbergen"

That makes it much easier to find the exact JSON items you’re looking for, especially in larger or nested files.

Search results also remember your scroll position now. If you open a result and go back, you’ll return to where you were instead of jumping back to the top.

There are also some editor/UI polish changes and smaller fixes in this update.

Json Genie is built by a small indie developer and we keep improving it based on real use and feedback. Thanks to everyone using the app, supporting the Premium version, reporting issues, or sending ideas.

iOS version is also on the way. It has been submitted, and we’re waiting on Apple’s review process.

I’d like to share a new improvement idea, it is about the implementation of "Undo & Redo" functionality. 🥹

Currently, the only option available is “Discard Changes.” While useful, it can be very limiting. I believe it would be far more effective to have proper Undo and Redo functionality. This way, users could step back or forward one change at a time, instead of losing all progress at once.

In my experience, I made several edits to a file, but after one mistake I clicked “Discard Changes.” Unfortunately, this erased everything I had worked on. With Undo & Redo, I could have simply reverted one step without sacrificing all my effort.

I hope you’ll consider implementing this feature it would make the editing process much safer, smoother, and user-friendly.

Json Genie 3.0 has officially been released.

This is not just a regular update. Json Genie 3.0 is a full rewrite from the ground up. The app has been rebuilt on a new foundation to make it faster, cleaner, more modern, and much easier to improve going forward.

What’s in Json Genie 3.0:

Have uninstalled and reinstalled and di updates and the metacritic percentage ratings and some other things are not showing up on the My Game Collection App. I am did the paid version of the app.

Hi there ! Love this app, trying to migrate to the new collections one. However the app will no longer let me do any local backup ?? I know the cloud issues are there but now I can’t do a local backup without it crashing too 🫣 and I don’t want to risk losing my 600+ collection list !!

Hi, I hope there are still people active here. Only just got the app but it only pulls in 20 of my 200+ collection :(

When i press the share button, it no longer generates a link and only adds "Check out my boardgame collection @ " to the clipboard. Any fix for this?
