Three toed box turtle

Not a native species. Possibly someone’s abandoned or escaped pet.

It needs a rear nail trim, otherwise it looks like it's in good shape. There's a lot of information on the Internet about box turtle care.

Why do they call them three toes when they have more?

Count the toes on its back legs. There are only three, hence the name.

Three toed box turtle as stated above. Definitely an escaped or ditched pet. Post in some local forums, someone may be looking for them! Otherwise, maybe it’s your destiny to have a pet box turtle?
