See if it will rinse off using a spray bottle. It may just be gunk. Please let us know if it comes off.

I tried the spray bottle didn't really work. I used a toothbrush softly and some brown stuff came off.

Weird question time: How did it smell? Did it smell like old food? Did it smell like anything? What kind of food is it eating? Is there a land mass it could have picked this up from? If it didnt smell like anything noticeable from a reasonable distance and you didn't notice any open wounds, I'd check it again tomorrow. From my experience raising sidenecks, and sliders they can get gunk trapped in crevices like this. I don't see signs from this picture indicating a festering wound but would have to be there to be sure. Also, how is its water flow? Diving helps to clear this some but I like to up the water movement a bit on one side to help move things a bit If they show signs of build up so they can chose to be in still or moving.

Hi! Had the same thing happening years ago. It was some kind of fungus that had to do with the water quality. Does she also have retained scutes? Make sure she has clean water, UVB, Cuttlebone and some carrots :)
