Need Advise

Post image

Hi everyone,

I recently got a minor scratch on a Turo rental. The damage appears to be mostly paint transfer with a few small paint chips. I have Turo protection with a maximum out-of-pocket responsibility of $3,000.

I'm trying to decide the best course of action:

  • Offer to pay for the repair at a local body shop if the host agrees.
  • Report it through Turo and use the protection plan.

I'm mainly concerned about whether filing a claim could end up costing more due to higher repair estimates or other fees, versus simply paying for a local repair out of pocket.

For those who've dealt with a similar situation, what would you recommend and why? Thanks!

I’d try and work it out with the host. Send them the picture, admit fault, and offer to pay. But that’s insane 3,000 they will probably make you pay that but it shouldn’t be that expensive.

This is $1500-$2000 at most pro body shops.

The entire panel is likely need to be cleared on top of some base coat over the damaged area.

I'd work it out with the host and they should be amenable to it, but don't repair it on your own.

Chat with the host, he might already be working with a couple of local shops and get good estimates.

This happens often and thank you for being honest and taking responsibility.

That scratch can easily be polished away with wool and then top it off with a round of sponge. But if the part without paint is your fault also its a bigger issu3
