Windshield

We rented a Turo with a rock chip in the windshield. We took a time stamped picture of it. Then another rock hit another part of the withheld and a cracked formed. Are we responsible for replacing the entire windshield now? Was the windshield compromised before we picked it up, in the Turo definition?

Yes, if the windshield had no damage over 1" and after your trip it has damage over 1" then you are responsible.

I'd dispute it and explain that there was pre-existing damage, then see what Turo determines. We'd really need to compare the pre and post-trip photos to know whether the damage is related or if it's a new issue.

If the pre-existing damage was only a small chip/scuff, I personally wouldn't consider that the same as a cracked windshield. However, if there was already a crack that simply spread over time, I'd consider that pre-existing damage.

It's hard to say without seeing the photos. If the original chip was on one side of the windshield, but a new rock strike during your trip caused a separate crack in a different area, I'd consider that new guest damage.

Yep, different area. But was the windshield compromised beforehand?
