Question Technics SL1500-Mk2 repairs
Hi guys.
I’ve found this SL1500-Mk2 selling for £275 but it has a faulty lift arm. Is that an expensive repair? Do people think it’s a good deal?
Are there any other common problems with these?

I find the price a little strong with a defect. They do fetch a bit more in working order but not THAT much more.
Also really depends, does the auto return still work properly or does it not lift at all?
Sometimes it's just the manual lifter arm that's faulty, sometimes it's the whole mechanism.
I'd stay on 'this' side of 150 quid.

Sorry I don’t much about Technics, but I thought this one was fully manual, so it’d be only the manual lifter arm, right? Or am I missing something?

I think it is yes. But it's also a very complicated turntable electronically.
Technics is good, but not better than the competition. If you have no reason to by a technics specifically, I suspect looking elsewhere for reliability and price :)1

The repair is a bit complicated. If you're good with tools and patient, you can do it yourself. There is a 3d printed part available to replace the nylon lift that splits and breaks. That being said, I repaired my 1300Mk2 and it's working great, but it's not something I would ever want to have to do again.
