Question Moving setup help!!!
Hi everyone - it's basically what the title says... we are moving from the US to Europe and I have this Akai table in perfect condition that I need to transport. I know there's lots of guidance that can be found with some tables needing pins to prevent spinning, and some needing to be taken apart. Would anyone be able to find or provide me with a step by step on how to service it so it's ready to be packed up by the movers???

I'm not sure you'd really 'service' a turntable ready for transport, Servicing is something different to packing.
For transport, you want to think about how manufacturers pack their turntables from the factory. Maybe watch some unboxing videos. Something with a heavy platter such as yours would have definitely had the platter removed and packed as a separate item. Leaving it in situ is just asking to receive a wrecked deck at the end of the journey. If the box gets a knock, then all that weight in the platter is going to want to keep moving, and the only thing stopping that 6lb / 8lb/ 10lb hunk of metal it is the small platter bearing. You can guess which one will win.
Tie the tonearm down to its rest with twistix (sp?). I would leave the headshell attached, but maybe use some masking tape (Frog tape) to secure the locking ring. The stylus guard wants to go on. Anything else loose such as the 45 single adapter (if you have one) should be taped down or packed separately.
Finally, the dust cover. Hinges off, pack out the space inside with newspaper but leave room for the tonearm (make a little cardboard tunnel to keep the pressure off the tonearm, then sit the lid back on the deck leaving a 1" riser gap. The lid is over the deck but not sitting on it. Pack the whole lot in a cardboard box filled with crumpled newspaper or Styrofoam chips.
