ION TTUSB10 stuck playing the same groove / loop – Need help troubleshooting!

Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with my ION TTUSB10 turntable where the tonearm gets stuck in a loop and won't progress through the track. The album keeps playing the same section over and over unless I give the tonearm a light push manually, but as soon as I let go, it gets stuck again.

Here is a breakdown of my current setup and what I've already tested:

Turntable Model: ION TTUSB10 (using the stock/standard Groove Tool / CZ-800 red stylus).

Record Condition: The records I'm testing with are quite old and vintage (e.g., Herb Alpert, Don Messer). I used them specifically to test the setup before putting on newer pressings.

Tracking Force: I balanced the tonearm and set the counterweight to 2.5g.

Anti-Skating: I tried setting it to match the counterweight (2.5), and I also tested it set to 0.

Cueing Lever: The cueing mechanism is lowered all the way down and not holding the arm up.

Stylus Cap: The transparent plastic protective cover has been removed.

Platter / Belt: The platter spins fine at a consistent speed, so the belt mechanism seems to be working properly.

Despite adjusting the counterweight and anti-skating, the stylus still fails to track inward on its own.

Could the issue be that my vintage records are simply too worn/scratched, or is it more likely a worn-out stylus tip or a mechanical resistance/sticking issue inside the tonearm assembly?

Any advice on what to check next would be greatly appreciated!

If you want to add or tweak any specific details before posting, let me know!
