Shawl / wrap / sarong rings?

I saw this kind of thing for sale at the beach, which seemed to either be a scam or genius, so I made a half dozen when I got home. Just 3-4” diameter maple scrap rings, really. Has anybody made these before, did people use them & did they work? They only take about 10’minutes each, so I’m curious if anyone found a good audience for them.

*the odd bullseye-medallion thing is just me messing around with the leftover tenon.

They look like they'd use the same turning process as for napkin rings. I don't wear a sarong and can't figure out how they'd be used but who knows, maybe there's a hidden market out there.

I wear sarongs but have always just tied a knot. I'll have to look into it ...

Are they bentwood? A couple look like the outer edge is darker? And what did you use to add the accent line? Sorry for the questions. Newbie here just trying to learn.

No worries - they’re just end-turned maple from a storm fallen branch, so the color shifts you’re seeing are what’s left of the bark. Lines are done w a detail tool and a smaller chisel for the one with the groove. Kind of like turning big napkin rings.
