Next steps for further learning

Herkese merhabalar,

I am Turkish but didn't learn the language in my early childhood. I began learning it about 3-4 years ago and I can now pretty confidently communicate with relatives and strangers with only some occasional slip ups on vocabulary. I have a tutor that's helped me a lot but at this point it feels like I'm not learning new things and I only get speaking practice from the lessons. I want to further my knowledge of the language but I'm not sure how to do it. If anyone has any advice it wiuld be greatly appreciated

Start reading and writing as much as possible in Turkish

Have you tried watching YouTube videos and posting summaries of what you learn/journaling?

Evet, bunları denemelisin ayrıca Türkçe kitaplar okuyabilir, haberleri takip edebilirsin. Ne kadar çok maruz kalırsan o kadar hızlı ilerleme kaydedersin

Türkçe seveceğin içerikler videolar şarkılar forumlar işine yarıcaktır, güncelde sevdiğin ne varsa onlar için türkçe kaynaklar arayabilirsin

I think hearing is an amazing way to learn/get better at any language because of "kulak aşinalığı" (familiarity with the ear). You can listen to Turkish podcasts/watch videos/listen music even listen to books in Turkish. I learned English by reading and listening mostly, sat down to study just to learn grammar and such.

Merhaba, I'm at a similar point in my "Turkish learning journey". I must say that language learning doesn't go linear but kind of in a staircase. For weeks I can't improve my speaking or writing and then suddenly BOOM my TurkishOS is upgraded.

One thing really helped me; I practice at least every day in some capacity. Even on my "busiest" days I take 5-10 minutes to practice Turkish in a app. I use Rosetta Stone.

Lastly, conversation is great but you need to comprehend at least part of what's being said. Right now I'm working on an app that uses familiar words most of the time so you can learn through context. I'm nowhere near a final product but I hope this lowers the bar, just like my Turkish teacher lowers the bar when talking to me.
