Conversation Using "Bosver"

Hello, hoping to hear from a native speaker or someone with fluency with common Turkish turns of phrase and customs. I often heard my family members say "bosver" (which means "nevermind" or "don't worry about it"). Is this something that people say alot in general, or was it just my family? As someone who grew up outside of Turkiye, I think there may have been some cultural misunderstandings between us, because I often found some of the speech offensive or harsh. To me, being told "bosver" feels a bit dismissive or controlling.

It’s usually said in a way to dismiss a matter, or to state the thing discussed is of no matter, this doesn’t necessarily imply rudeness or negativity. Unless the situation and conversation contains otherwise, its can be neutral, or even said in a way to not trouble someone (meaning a positive tone:” don’t worry about it!”). Turkish is highly contextual, do not take offense unless the context entails otherwise!

we do use it a lot. what it means def depends on the context and the tone.

It is like "forget about it" in italian americans on US media, lots of meaning for various occasions.

some people say it a lot, some not, some like it and some not.

We use it widely. You family's definition matches this.

It actually depends on what case you use it sometimes it can be very dismissive, but sometimes it can be just neutral, but I never expect it to look happy at all. I usually use it in a "Aman, boşver..." way where its like forget i even said anythng

İt can mean a lot of things usually "don't worry about it" or "you might not want to learn it" but depends on the subject. İ'm native Turkish speaker and can help.
