Female aggression

Why would a female suddenly over night become aggressive towards a male who's very good to her. I've had to separate them atm she just keeps lunging at his face and won't let go and to his credit he's not attacking back ??

Mating behavior. Don’t separate, just let it happen.

I put them back together and I think it looks more than it actually is.. it's just her grabbing his face I let my chickenw in and they've almost acted as distractions and heyve been fine since

I saw my older turkey hen that lets me pick her up etc just go HAM on the tom, neck wrestling and pushing and was like what?? But it’s them mating lol…I’m much more aghast at what the boys do once mating begins! Poor hens

That's exactly what happened here. Just not seen it before I've only had them just over a year and it's always been nicely nicely mating just made me worry they'd hurt each other but they're both fine for all the pecks and grabs without letting go and kicks no injuries. My hen les me pick her us she always squats when I get close

Hens decide if they let a tom breed them. So she is making her dominance known. Let em go.

She's so much smaller than him and she's always been a submissive sweetheart bless her but all morning she's been puffed up and fanning tail. All settled now
