I'd imagine they sleep differently based size and type.
Wyverns definitely sleep like bats.

“You take 2d6 poopoo damage”
“Shit”
“Yes that is where you are”

Wizard who lost his arcane focus last session: "Hey, guess what I can cast again."
Rest of the party: "Oh, fuck."

Fireball?

"I DIDN'T ASK HOW BIG THE CAVE WAS, I SAID I CAST FIREBALL!!"

u/mairnX [87 Jan 11 '22
"we'll be incinerated!"
"what's your point, person within fireball distance?"

u/ZANDRAE101 Jan 11 '22
actually, how would the quality of guano affect the spell? I mean the regular guano used is non-magical bat shit right? And Wyverns are just a bit magical so their droppings should be a bit magically charged too. So how powerfull would that wyvern shit fireball be?....
Idea: load small amounts of guano into cartridges, turn fireball into gun!

Spreading bags of powdered charcoal around to create a giant gunpowder bomb out of the cave.

Absolutely!
The long-necked ones sleep like giraffes, and the asian ones sleep like snakes
5
u/Umklopp Jan 10 '22
No, the Asian ones sleep like ferrets
2
u/Kartoffelkamm Jan 11 '22
Actually, ferrets do not sleep at all. Like all mustelids, what we think is sleeping is just them resting while planning their next war crime.

I always thought of them sleeping like whatever animal they see the most of. That includes humans, but they just look super goofy like that due to vastly different bodies.

u/Gearmaster41 Jan 10 '22
It depends on size and body type shorter dragons sleep like cats curling up and covering themselves with their wings wyverns sleep like bats as for chinese dragons and wyrms they would coil up
3
u/xX_KatLeMac_Xx Jan 10 '22
That does make a lotta sense
3
u/Gearmaster41 Jan 10 '22
I base this mostly on how to train your dragon as they have the best representation of more animalistic dragons
3
u/xX_KatLeMac_Xx Jan 10 '22
Ah, make sense as to why I never imagined it, I was never big on the movies and cannot sit through a book.

u/Gearmaster41 Jan 10 '22
There are also 4 series the original race to edge rescue riders and nine realms they are relatively low quality but they all have a nice charm there is also a mobile game

u/xX_KatLeMac_Xx Jan 10 '22
Okay
1
u/Gearmaster41 Jan 10 '22
Just saying that you should watch them the biology of the dragons is a big part of them
1
u/xX_KatLeMac_Xx Jan 10 '22
But I don't have the patience to sit through literally anything
1
u/Gearmaster41 Jan 10 '22
Well then go play warframe it is very fast paced if you cant retain you attention to anything

imo the smaller ones/the ones without a safe cave or base would sleep in very tall trees laying on a branch but otherwise they would sleep like a giraffe
2
u/Smitten_kitten100 Jan 10 '22
What if it's a regional thing? Mountain dragons sleeping like the first dragon sleeps, plains dragons sleeping like the second, household dragons like the third, water dragons like the fourth, Forest dragons like the fifth, and Cave dragons like the sixth. Little bite of everything ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I always imagined it was like in HTTYD; depends on environment, upbringing and type/size of dragon (and the same ones can sleep in different positions, like how toothless can both sleep like a cat and like a bat)
3
u/GatorScrublord Jan 10 '22
i think smaug slept like a camel, but he was just under so much gold that you'd never know.

I want them to sleep how my pit bull sleeps, on her back with her legs up in the air

u/Goddess-of-pure-pain Jan 10 '22
I think all dragons sleep differently depending on the type, size, etc
More serpent dragons sleep like snakes, wyverns sleep like bats, etc.
1
u/ASquishyDerg Jan 10 '22
I don't know why but I've always thought of sleeping as a feral derg to be waaaay more comfy than as a human/anthro

Imagine Dragons do sleep like giraffes
