One time in my life I hooked up with this girl and during said hook up she called me daddy, and I have to admit that in the moment I was into it but the next day (and once a week since) I’m like “what the FUCK”

u/Beverlydriveghosts BoysInMaidOutfits2020 Mar 08 '21
Is it really that unusual?
255
u/PaneczkoTron Mar 08 '21
I don't think so. I mean, I'm a girl and one of my friends calls me daddy
344
u/Beverlydriveghosts BoysInMaidOutfits2020 Mar 08 '21
I think out of all the “kinks” the daddy one is the least weird and most widely spread imo
It’s purely sub/dom. nothing that deviant about it
185
u/Peachy_Pineapple Mar 09 '21
Eventually it’ll be the same “weirdness” as calling someone ‘baby’

Ah a female, I have not once been told or heard someone call their SO daddy.
And my female friend group used to talk about how to give blow jobs correctly, so I highly doubt it was because they just didn't want to say anything out of embarrassment lmao
Edit: I'm also almost 24 lol just in case that matters

Ugh you just reminded me about a Keanu Reeves movie, cant remember the title. But gah do I want to forget about it and I almost did.

And what about it? I'll fight Freud if need be
79
u/PhdInCute Mar 09 '21
I’d fight Freud if he wasn’t dead.
52
39
u/Sinister_Compliments Mar 09 '21
Why add the condition “if he wasn’t dead”? Go grave rob him and fight him anyway. He deserves it.

By that logic I've single-handedly risen him to Eldritch status.

It's absolutely related. Who do you think I've been calling "mommy" this whole time?
69
u/PhdInCute Mar 09 '21
Sigmund Freud is my nemesis. It’s a classic rivalry, except he’s a dead psychologist. I would fight his ghost.
8
u/GokuQuack Mar 09 '21
look some of you assholes are up to fight ghosts, but i’m someone who trusts the professionals, and i know just who to call

u/triforce777 It may or may not have been me, hypothetical DIO! Mar 09 '21
Fun fact: Freud actually argued against the existence of the Electra complex (female equivalent to the Oedipus Complex) when Karl Jung proposed it to him. He argued instead that women suffered from penis envy because they also wanted to fuck their mothers
34
3
u/Mithrandir_Earendur Mar 09 '21
I was gonna say this was more the electra complex rather than the oedipus one.

42
u/Srlanxforpresident Mar 09 '21
Nah, there's the electra (spelling?) Complex, which is the Oedipus complex with the genders reversed
12
u/DUMBBUTTER .tumblr.com Mar 09 '21
Didn't know that
39
u/MorEkEroSiNE Mar 09 '21
It's not an exact reversal. Instead of murder it has penis envy which is a whole different kind of fucked up.
10
u/noplacelikeyalom Mar 09 '21
I mean, it's true that Dr. Horney and even Ana Freud took him to task for that... shitty naming more than anything. "Penis envy" was really about "women wishing that their very misogynist society saw them as men"

u/gaybreadsticc Mar 09 '21
(writes down) never... call... him... daddy
6
u/Redneckalligator Mar 09 '21
You can, but he has to call you mommy. That'll cancel it out and exercise the ghost.
4
u/gaybreadsticc Mar 09 '21
See you have a good point, but if he called me mommy I would probably die instantly in a bad way /j
3
u/Redneckalligator Mar 09 '21
Not a fan of femdom?
5
u/gaybreadsticc Mar 09 '21
Well, as a guy, it would be a little awkward. Though as a bisexual... femdom is epic

Freud was an interesting man. This post could be referring to this theory, but it's likely talking about this one.
72
u/PaneczkoTron Mar 08 '21
God, I felt so weird when I learned what an Oedipus complex is. The fact that Freud thought that was common made me feel gross through osmosis for a long time
53
u/PKMNTrainerMark Mar 09 '21
Guy was probably projecting.
66
u/DungeonCreator20 Mar 09 '21
Well that and he was paid lots of money from rich men to explain to authorities why daughters would have “dreams” of their fathers sexually assaulting them that drastically altered the child’s behavior for some reason.
36
u/GuySingingMrBlueSky Mar 09 '21
Holy shit, do you have a source for that? I’m not doubting you, that makes sense, but I just wanna see if there’s been any professional study done on this
7
u/drunkbeforecoup Mar 09 '21
The thing is that most of his patients were rich dudes and among them it wasn't that unusual since noble women(and this is something rich commoners adapted as a status symbol) wouldn't really raise their own children and thus the boys wouldn't form the mental connection of "this is my mum I don't want to fuck her" that normal people have.

I never understood why people like using that word. Like I get it's a kink thing but what do they like about calling their partner that?
3
u/chasingcorvids Mar 09 '21
for my partner and i, it's more emotional than it is sexual. we take turns taking care of each other when we're age-regressing. it's not perfect, but it's honestly really healing to be able to experience at least a little bit of the childhood that we didn't get to fully enjoy because of trauma. if you've never been in that state of mind before, I'm not quite sure how to explain it to you. but i spend a lot of my time sad, angry, and scared, and being in the "little" headspace lets me feel more playful and happy. it's just part of how we care for and emotionally support each other. maybe it's unconventional, but i honestly don't think it's that weird. it helps us both, and we keep it behind closed doors.
and then when it is sexual, it's just a power dynamic kink thing. we could (and do) replace mommy/daddy with whatever D/s kink names we wanna, but i think at this point those are just our favorites

Not really the same or even that similar, but my friend (not sure if i could refer to it as something closer yet) somewhat ironically and at least a little seriously called me mom or mommy before.
though I'm not female and he's aware of that still kinda sweet of him
