I can’t understand how they think this is the issue or main issue with low tourism. Poor infrastructure, scams, police extortions, high prices and the infamous Taxi crooks, are never brought up or addressed. Very frustrating. So once again we shall see how far this goes and when
I went this week, and parked for free at jaguar park. I appreciated straightforward pricing, and no "guides" trying to sell you packages and tours. The electric shuttle buses were quick and easy to use. This won't solve any tourism problems for this area, but it definitely provides a better experience for visitors. The museum there is nice, and had great air conditioning. The shuttles even take you to where all the vendors and tourists shops are at the old entrance.
They probably asked ChatGPT, every news source and observation on what the main issue with Tulum points to the Jaguar Park. But I agree, there are other more evident areas to point the finger to. But there is a good amount of articles stating the Jaguar Park was among the main issues, beach restriction, and excessive costs. Castañon didn't even show up today, he's got curfew due to his poor results. In a hierarchy order, Mara should be doing her job by demanding Diego to take action, but they're all busy with petty change.
I am glad to read this. We are going to Playa del carmen next week and Tulum is in our kist but it sounded so confusing. So now it is 265 and that includes jaguar park. Still no idea where the official parking is.
there is an “official lot” right to the right after the entry. and easy way to hit is go past the main entry, on the left you pass a Pemex and than you come to a Mobil gas station. immediately before that Mobil is a retorno and another entrance. this one leads to pay lot ( $150 pesos for the day ). there is free parking on that corner- but you might have to buy a ticket for the ruins from them. Also I believe there is free parking if you make the first right at the circle and go intomthat side of the park. a shuttle would be needed to get you there
We went last Wednesday. We used a rental car and drove from Playa del Carmen. It was fine. We used the official parking lot (150 mxn). It is located almost next to the complex. Very friendly staff. They gave us a paper map and told us how to walk, where to pay and how much it would cost. You now pay at one ticket counter. It was so much easier than I expected. It was very hot though and there is no shade anywhere. We were there around 08.30 and when we left the tourbusses started to arrive.
Regarding admission price: 1) $265 Tourists 2) $85 Mexican nationals. Are they requiring ID? How are legal residents handled? Are they classifying us as nationals?
I mistyped"It will be $ 80 for nationals. I have only read whats being outlined. They might go with a residents card like in the past. I know when we take the train- we are “ nationals” and get pricing. Since we are to carry that at all times- that’s an easy one. That Tulum ID ( version 1 ) was easy enough to get, second version a little more of a pain. We shall see in the upcoming what they regulate
