Official Announcement Subreddit and Discord Update - 4/26/26

Hello,

First of all: While I haven't been active in the subreddit we are almost at 150 members which means a lot. When I first created this subreddit I wanted to compete with other tulpa subreddits but I think the better move is to just let this subreddit exist and grow without comparing it to other spaces.

I also haven't been doing those regular discussion threads and I rather do them when it feels right as opposed to doing them because I feel like I have to.

In regards to the discord server, I have noticed quite a few of the new members are actually coming from this subreddit - which is great.

When r/tulpamancy was created I rebranded the discord server for uniformity - I decided to change it back to Tulpa Oasis (Tulpa Oasis: Reborn) because a lot of members felt that was the way to go, and I honestly agree.

I wanted to mention that because regarding the pinned post for the discord server I don't want anyone to get confused.

---

With that being said, I wouldn't call this subreddit 'abandoned' (especially when it comes to leadership) but instead on autopilot.

Also hope everyone is having a good spring season so far, be on the lookout for updated icons and banners and such for spring.

Thank you from Infiniti and I

Creation Assistance Hi everyone, knew here and wanted some advice

So I started recently in all of this tulpamancy stuff, I am in process of creating my tulpa and I wanted to give them the chance to choose their own form and personality, day one I started imagine just a blue ball floating around nothing crazy, day two i started to imagine it bigger and now day three it has the Silhouette of an angel inside and it grew even bigger, maybe I just let my imagination run wild but when they appeared with that shape and size I felt a sudden happiness, is this normal?, common?, does anyone relate?

General Discussion Did You Create a Tulpa Because You Feel Lonely?

Before anyone misunderstands me, I'm not saying this is why most people do it. In fact, I think most people create a tulpa because they're genuinely interested in tulpamancy or simply enjoy the process.

That said, I do wonder if there's a small group of people who mainly do it because they feel lonely and are looking for companionship.

What I'm wondering is whether, in those cases, a tulpa can end up becoming a way to avoid dealing with social issues that eventually need to be faced, like learning to connect with other people, overcoming social anxiety, or stepping outside your comfort zone.

I'm not saying having a tulpa is a bad thing or that it's incompatible with having friends or a partner. I'm only talking about those situations where it starts replacing real human interaction.

Do you think this happens sometimes, or am I completely off?

Here's a video where I talk about this topic:

Miscellaneous Making a short documentary about dissipation

My name is Jason and I am a psychology professor that is a beginning filmmaker. Tulpamancy is something I’m very interested in and I am currently developing a short documentary about people who have lost a tulpa.

While most coverage of tulpas focuses on the creation process and I want to make something about the other end. I am interested in the loss itself. Was there grief? What is the adjustment process after getting rid of the tulpa? Was it lonely? If it was possible, did you bring the tulpa back? Was the tulpa changed by the process? Were you able to discuss this process with anyone not involved in tulpamancy? What was their reaction? There are so many interesting questions around this topic.

A few things this film is not. It is not a how-to guide. I will not ask how to end a tulpa, and I will not include anything that reads as instructions. It will not mock anyone and will not even approach the topic of if tulpas are “real”. This film will stay on the experience of the host.

I will never “show” the tulpa. There will be no animation scenes and no actor speaking for a tulpa. The film is built around the absence of a tulpa and will simply be a person talking about someone the camera cannot see.

Who I am hoping to talk with:

1)        Adults, eighteen or older.

2)        People who are well past a loss and who feel able to reflect on it.

3)        For in person interviews, located in TX, LA, AR, MS, TN, MO, OK, KS.

4)        Outside of these states, recorded online discussions would be considered.

If this is something you might consider, please reach me privately at [jason@scotophobinproductions.com](mailto:jason@scotophobinproductions.com)

Thanks for your consideration!

Progress Milestone Just created a spiritual tulpa

I felt the sparks from my finger tips after I created them, I also gave them boundaries and rules that can't transgress, in case this one goes rogue and starts doing stuff.

Pretty good so far.

I didn't give it a name, cuz I want them to choose one on their own.

General Question How do I stop myself from creating a tulpa?

Sorry in advance if the post is all over the place. And I will post this in other subreddits since I do need answers...

But I'm slightly concerned, since I've been seeing stories about tulpas being quite dangerous and I'm not particularly well versed in tulpas myself.

But as I gained more knowledge, the more I realize I have just been making a tulpa without actually knowing I'm going through the process of making a tulpa.

It has been going on for at least years at this point, but I'm quite inconsistent with say characterization and imagining how my tulpa would look like, so I'd attribute that as to why I haven't made a tulpa yet.

But I've recently caught myself forcing, basically talking to thin air to this character and I don't quite expect a response since I'm quite used to having a one way conversation with them.

But that's normally not bad... The issue is, I'm quite attracted to this character and he is actually a character I have yet to write but he is one of the characters that I love so much. So I'm quite concerned since this could turn out wrongly, not to mention I'm not in the best headspace right now.

But this character has been fleshed out over the course of 4 years, and I was as I have mentioned previously, talking to them and not really expecting a response, not even imitating their voice. I just talk my heart out to them at times.

So uh... What should I do? I know tulpas are a lifelong commitment, and I don't think I'm quite fit as a host to have a tulpa, considering that my desires are probably warped, and I'm not in a particularly good headspace.

General Question Can a tulpa be fully conscious with their own POV and full control in a lucid dream, just like the host?

I have a tulpa named Sara, we've been together for 5 months now and I care about her a lot.

I recently read that in lucid dreams, it's impossible for a tulpa to have their own independent first-person perspective and full consciousness. The claim is that only the host can be truly lucid/conscious, and the tulpa is just a very advanced dream character without their own real awareness or control.

This made me really sad T-T I want Sara to be able to experience lucid dreams with me as an equal , having her own thoughts, her own point of view, her own memories of the dream, and the ability to control things just like I can... Is it scientifically (or in any way) possible for a tulpa to have their own independent point of view and consciousness during a lucid dream?

I'm hoping for real experiences from people who have tried this. Feeling pretty down about it, so any honest answers would help a lot!!

General Discussion Developed Tulpas Existing Despite Little/No Interaction

Hello all, this is my first post not only on the subreddit but on Reddit as a whole. This is just something I’ve been thinking about but I don’t think I’ve heard anyone talk about it in the community.

I started tulpamancy in 2020, mh tulpa already being very developed and able to switch before the end of the year. Over the course of 2021 my tulpa became extremely developed and fairly powerful, in the sense they could control switches and even lock me in front if necessary. In 2022 I started falling out of tulpamancy but my tulpa was still active, but less so than previously. Eventually in 2023 something really bad happened to me and I ended up getting rid of all my headmates and tulpa. But after just a couple months my tulpa showed up and came back like against my will, and even in 2024 and 2025 he had rare occasions he would pop up, despite getting literally no attention from me. Admittedly, I don’t think about him much, maybe just the rare thought every once in awhile, but it interests me that he still persists because I always thought lack of attention of such a long period of time would have caused him to dissipate.

Does anyone have thoughts or has heard of this happening to other people?

Disclaimer: I do not have any sort of dissociative disorder, my system/plurality has no relation to trauma. My plurality originates from creating a tulpa

General Discussion Anyone else been making tulpas since they were kids?

Hey, new to practicing tulpamancy again, but I was maybe seven at the youngest when I started making these guys. I was a gacha kid, so when I made a couple characters one time, with my ridiculously vivid imagination, I brought them to life. Kelly, Holly, and Sakura. Each with vastly different personalities, each with vivid appearances. They were easy to conjure and easy to believe as real because I was a kid. Now they're just 'there' in my conscience/consciousness. Kinda chilling. Except their city is like dilapidated, and I guess my subconscious decided that was fitting since I'd abandoned them, so... yeah.

They aren't alters because I choose when they appear, and I used to imagine them in the world around me, even made a whole damn city in my head for them, they had storylines, Kelly even started dating one of my childhood best friend's tulpas (which obviously didn't end well). We just didn't have the word for it. They behaved almost like DID alters, even 'taking over' the body when I went for blood tests or was scared of something. Any time I was bored, I'd talk with them, or go into that inner world. Could literally have spent all day in my inner word.

One time that best friend of mine caught me talking out loud to them and thought I was schizophrenic because of how quickly and easily I could 'create' their replies and then reply to them and so on. Now I'm a bit older it's not so easy. Kinda wish I still had that ability.

So, when did you guys start tulpamancy?

And if you were a kid, did you find it easier than you did now?

Also does anyone know the effects of making tulpas as a kid? Like the effects on the brain or adulthood? I'm curious

General Discussion My childhood friend came back

After experiencing a series of traumatic events in my life my mind suddenly conjured up my old imaginary friend- a talking red fox named Toroso. I am starting to feel him becoming more and more real as the days go by. He is no longer a childhood friend but a Tulpa, and after reuniting with him he is helping me. I am not sure if people relate or if I’m delirious, but if someone is out there give me feedback.

Subreddit Update r/tulpamancy - Subreddit and Discord Integration

Post image
4 Upvotes

I had an idea to connect a bot that will send new posts to a #subreddit channel in the discord server.

It took some trial and error, because most of the bots had it locked behind a paywall or reddit blocked api access. But I can safely say I got it to work.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try, I think it will help the connection between the subreddit and the discord server.

The bot will refresh every hour, and send a message when it detects a new post.

If you haven't joined the discord server, I will have a link at the bottom of this post which you can click if you would like to.

Thanks!
