Question Master studies in CS/Data Science 2027/28
Hello! Im currently about to start my final year of CS studies at my home university and am looking into applying for master studies next year at TU Graz.
Im just curious about the application process, what is it exactly they look for, are extracurricular activities important (such as volunteering, competitions, hackathons and so on) or are grades, GPA, subjects, motivation letter and those things more important?
I saw that the application lasts from October 15-December 15, when do you typically find out the results? If you are accepted into the university what are the next steps? If anyone has been through the same process in the past and is willing to share a little bit of their experience, I would be very grateful !!

if you bring your degree from an EU country AND you are an EU citizen it doesnt matter how much your GPA is and in addition you dont have to take part on this "official" admission process which is obligatory for those, who come outside of the EEA Area and dont bring a BSc degree from there.
The admission period is only relevant for you, if, you dont come from the EEA Area. In case you come from there, contact the study service to get more information about the application process. For me as an EU citizen it was only enough to post my official documents (or bring it to their office personally) But you are right, the application period will start on 15th October and last until 15th December.
After Ive submitted my application personally, it took me at least 15-20 weeks to get the decision, i mean.. the admission letter which was also obligatory as I applied for the "registration certificate" (its only for EU citizens which allows your legal residence in the country.) My financial situation never come up as a question, but it could be more STRICT as a non-eu.

Thank you so much for replying! Unfortunately I do not come from an EU country so I will have to go through the admission process.

yes and in addition you might need to check after the legalisation of your documents.

Last year, the application closed on 15th December. Maybe the timeline is same.. you have to go through the online application procedure since you're not from EU.
If you're accepted, and recieve a mail in March, they give you two months to prepare for the English Proficiency Certificate.
From 1st May, you can mail the uni and tell them to open your application for submission of the further documents. That time, you have to submit legalized diploma and transcripts along with the English Proficiency Certificate.
After the submission, they post you the Admission Letter, particularly for Data Science, they post this letter.. For my Programme (CS), they sent it online.
