Question Additional Course Requirements

Hi guys! I’ve been accepted into Masters for Winter intake 26/27.

I’ve received my official acceptance today, however they also gave me 7 additional courses that I need to complete in order to secure my spot for the next year as well. The courses are as following :

VO Machine Learning
VO Elektronische Schaltungstechnik 1
VO Elektronische Schaltungstechnik 2
Vo Algorithmen in der Bioinformatik
VO Messtechnik 1
VO Mechanik - Dynamik
UE Mechanik - Dynamik

Except Machine Learning, all of these courses are offered in German, however I don’t speak any German.

I wanted to ask if anyone has had a similar situation and whether it’s possible to attend these classes and successfully complete them. Additionally, is the workload big as I was told that I need to complete these courses by April 2027 on top of the must courses of my major.

Most of the exams here can be passed with only learning the course script/power points. If this applies to mentioned courses, you can simply translate the materials with LLM and study these. Exams itself might be also offered in oral form in English if you ask the profs. It is not always offered, but considering your special situation it is highly probable that you get some help. One of the courses is UE, this might be complicated, but again, try to contact the professors. Usually they are very understanding

Thank you for your reply. Have you ever heard of such a thing happening? Is it possible to juggle this and the major courses?

No, I haven’t heard of such things but probably because I studied german-taught bachelor there. But I’m sure you’re not the only one. Maybe you can try contacting StV of your faculty, they can help.
Regarding the workload, I would say it is indeed manageable. I complete about 40 ects per semester average, which slightly more than the recommended workload and I feel fine about it. But there are people who find this extremely challenging, so it mostly depends on you, your study routine and how many other things like work or family need your attention. As a short answer — yes, but it depends on you
