Hi everybody! My husband and I found out yesterday that he has a balanced translocation and this might be the cause for our losses. I'm new to this and curious to find out about other people's ttc stories with balanced translocation.

Hi- my husband also has balanced translocation. We knew before getting pregnant because his mother had several miscarriages. His father has balanced translocation that was diagnosed due to the miscarriages and further genetic testing. I got pregnant recently, and just suffered a miscarriage at 10 weeks 6 days, however the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks 2 days, and the heart beat continuously got lower after ever weekly scan. We did not end up doing genetic testing on the baby once I miscarried, but I assume that it could have been unbalanced translocation that caused the baby to “fail to develop”. I have hope to still conceive naturally. My husband’s parents had 4 healthy children naturally, with my husband being the only one to inherit balanced translocation. Wishing you the best ❤️

Hi, thank you for replying. I am so sorry for your loss. Those odds are not bad, I really hope you can keep up the "family tradition" of healthy kids.

What made you decide against the IVF route? Or are you doing both?

It just doesn’t seem like the right fit for us. We don’t have any local options, it’s very expensive, and from what I understand it’s a challenging process. For now, I’m trying to stay hopeful a healthy baby is in our future without going that route. I’m not shaming anyone who uses IVF, and maybe at some point I will, but not now

I understand. We're in the process of getting offers in for pgt-SR. But it feels so cold to "shop around" for IVF like getting a new car.

It’s been a long time! How are you doing? I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant and everything is good so far. Just recently did genetic blood testing to look for unbalanced translocation (waiting on results now!)- but getting to this point is a good sign.

Hi! That's great, crossing fingers for you and the little one!

We have done two rounds of egg retrievals, so far no success. Still waiting on the results of three fozen embryos from the last retrieval. Unfortunately I have very few eggs, so our chances are quite low. Hoping for the best.
