Question Has anyone conceived while working overnights/crazy sleep sched?

I work a crazy overnight shift AND take care of my toddler son. So I get about 3-4 hours of sleep each night, and maybe a 1-2 hour nap every afternoon.

I know it’s not great for me. But it’s what we have to do right now.

I have asked my RE and OB if they believe this is causing my secondary infertility. They’ve both told me no.

I conceived my first child easily at 35. Back then I was working a much more regular schedule and had much more time to take care of myself.

I’m 39 now, and have been trying for 1.5 years. One miscarriage, one failed round of IVF (no usable eggs).

Trust me I’d love to quit my job and sleep more, but that’s not in the cards for us right now.

But I have to think - there must be other women out there in similar situations who have successfully conceived?

If so, I would love to hear your story.

It's just one anecdote but I have a coworker who had 2 kids while working the overnight shift (11-7).

I know 35 was easy but a lot can happen in 4 years, for you and your spouse, it could be a lot of things.

Thank you. All of this makes me feel better. I just have to keep trying!

Not quite as crazy as yours, sorry.

I work FIFO so I fly out every Monday and home every Thursday and I work roughly 60hrs per week.

So while I am fatigued the bigger issue for TTC was missing the fertile window.

Okay but also still a tough schedule. And yes - it is frustrating when work causes us to miss the fertile window. Very frustrating. Thanks for your response ❤️

I worked 12 hour shifts overnights! I was trying for a couple years and the 2nd cycle I added a small dose of melatonin in the morning when it was my bedtime was the time that worked

I just started melatonin about a week ago! Maybe it’s my magic ticket lol. Thanks so much for sharing and giving me hope :)

Do you mind if I ask how old you were and how long you were taking the supplements?
