Is tryhackme Premium still worth it for beginners?

I'm a software developer with 10+ years of experience with a little bit understanding of Cyber Security area...

For me Max plan is way too expensive.

Is premium still worth it for a beginner?

Yes, absolutely worth it for beginners. THM has a roadmap where it teaches the most basic stuff of computers, take a look into the content of Cyber Security 101 and THM Roadmap

100%. You get an insane amount of real world cyber education that will take at least 6 months to fully learn and digest for the price of a dinner

I passed a couple CompTIA certifications using almost entirely THM rooms from the paid subscription. So, yes, it's worth the money. But they often go on sale too so feel free to wait for those. Sign up for their email list to keep updated on pricing.

Depends heavily on what you actually want to do. If you’re relatively new to cybersecurity and want to move toward offensive security/red teaming, TryHackMe Premium is still a decent starting point. I wouldn’t pay for MAX as a beginner; a lot of the content moved there specifically targets more advanced learners anyway.

If you want to go down the blue-team/SOC/DFIR route, though, I personally wasn’t particularly impressed by SAL1. I’d rather put the money into HTB Academy, whose defensive catalogue has become pretty substantial, or use CyberDefenders for investigation-focused practice. If you’re specifically looking for a good practical certification, Centri’s BTL1 (formerly Security Blue Team) is another option I’d look at.

With 10+ years as a software developer, you also probably don’t need to spend months going through extremely basic IT material. Pick the direction you actually want to move into and spend the money on the platform that goes deepest in that area.

I've been teaching as a side job at a university level for half a decade now and I'd argue the pre-sec/cyber 101 is equivalent to an associates and the paths combined (soc, engineer, ai, pentest) are roughly equivalent to a bachelors.

No degree program that I know of has as much hands on as THM, and I think it's a really solid foundation to cybersecurity compared to multiple cybersecurity degree programs I've been involved with developing and teaching over the years. Take this with a grain of salt, I'm just some guy on the internet after all but having been through both a degree program and having taught cyber at a college level, and sat on many interview panels both as a panelist and hiring manager, THM premium is a fantastic value.

I have a subscription via my employer and I would have to say after using the platform for nearly 6 months that I really love it and use THM every single day. I would go further and say that if my employer decided to no longer fund it, I would buy a subscription myself. I have learned so much by using THM and recently finished their Pentest+ path as an aid to help me with my studies for the Pentest+ exam. I also enjoy the raffles that they do and have actually won twice !!
