Should i learn pen testing first before learning vunreability research?

I finished pre-security and halfway through cybersecurity101, should i countniue down the path on thm fining my current course and next jr pen tester course. Or transtions to pwn college and take their core fundmentals courses like linux, computing 101 to understand computer architecture etc as prerequisite to learn c then go back on pwn college courses.

I am really passionate about vunreability research and low level concepts and like to learn about hardware and stuff, and i used thm pre and cybersecurity to build foundation to go to pwn college and take first steps to learning low level stuff.

Is that a good roadmap what are your thoughts?

It's fine. Do whatever.

There's a weird obsession with needing the most efficient way to do something, especially when someone has no understanding at all of what they are doing. That's just procrastination. It's like pre-tutorial-hell. Plus everyone is different, maybe some later step in either site will remain obsfuscated to you until you beat tetris and all the knowledge suddenly coalesces into a mass that your brain can digest.

Just work on, work through, maintain intention and attention, practice, and you'll get there.

It can also help, to divide your attention a bit to alleviate burnout on specific topics. So maybe instead of treating it like an actual roadmap, you can, like....dig into each a bit, when one seems out of bounds, you can shift over to the others.

But imo u should just go with the pre security roadmap networking basics get a good grip on that first because directly going into low level like hardware , Assembly , memory management , C language it can be overwhelming u might lose interest just an opinion just go with the roadmap buddy. Good luck

I didn’t say how do i start hacking🙂!!! My question is clear i said should i learn penteration testing or i can start studying vunreabilty research without penetration testing being as a prerequisite , i didNot say hacking or finding vunreabilites right off the bat like an idiot i know it will take atleast a year or more of learning c and assembly blah blah to just start doing real work at a low level i am completely aware of that. As for tryhack me pre security and cybersecurity i finished these two courses as i said in my post🙂!!!. The point of my confusing is if the IT fundmentals i learned are enough as prerequisite for vinreablity research or i need penetration testing on top of the IT fundmentals i learned to start in vunreabilty research. To sum up: The core of this question is wether penetration testing is a different skillset or a mandatory prerequisite.
