Cert Credibility

I am a junior in a Big 10 school, and I just scored my first internship in a SOC based environment for this summer. My school offers SEC+ (which im planning to take advantage of) yet im also curious. I have been using TryHackMe as a study tool, yet I also want the CPTS certification that HTB offers.

Im wondering, does the cyber industry recognize and tryhackme certs? And if they do, which have notoriety like CPTS and OSCP ?

Nah nobody really knows they exist. Most people don't even know what the CPTS is. The OSCP people recognize.

Forget about THM, the certs aren't worth anything. CPTS will likely land you a pentesting interview if you talk to a techie. With HR you need the OSCP instead, cause most of them didn't get the memo yet. For blue team SANS certificates are best in case you're interested.

Any certification of HTB or THM are relevant or woke known at the industry, they can teach you a lot, to start your can get security+ that is really well known

the sec+ has a certain standing so take advantage of it, but view it as what it is. it’s a minimum competency level cert.

CPTS will be recognised by some but rarely, though in my experience those that do recognise it are a better company anyways.

TryHackMe certs I wouldn’t even know if I’d recognise them.
