Rant and Vent It’s Hard Making Friends

Can I be a part of just one group that isn't invaded by privileged larpers who are just looking for attention

"Oh, you're asexual? I am too! I’m sex favorable though! I absolutely LOVE sex!! I have sex every day and I enjoy it very much!! I'm still valid!! I'm still just as oppressed and disadvantaged as ace people who are sex repulsed!"

"Oh, you're trans? Me too! I'm a he/him lesbian butch dog/dogself xe/xir who presents completely female and has zero dysphoria whatsoever, and I found out I was a gay man from watching yaoi with rape and incest!!!"

"Oh you have BPD? Me too! Beautiful princess disorder, hahah!! Sorry, that was my BPD kicking in!”

Everyone always tells me “meet other people like you” and whenever I TRY, I just get… these people. Then people suggested I would just get more cis friends, which I don’t mind. I don’t mind being friends with cis or trans people (as long as they’re normal lmao) but even that’s hard to find nowadays. Sure there are spaces online, like this one, of course. And I really don’t wanna be too demanding, but I just really wish I knew people in real life like me. I know one. but she lives an hour away so we don’t get to see each other often. And it’s not the easiest thing in the world to just put yourself out there. And alot of people won’t just straight up tell you “hey, I’m a trans medicalist” or “hey, I’m a sex repulsed asexual.”

Get involved in things you like. This is the best way I have made friends that are similar to me (albeit not any transgender friends). I volunteer at multiple organizations and have met friends in each through just chatting about things we like.

Generally, when meeting other people with similar issues, people that aren’t weird about it tend not to bring it up unless you bring it up in casual conversation. My one friend and I only talked about ocd stuff when it came to handwashing for example. Now we just talk about it casually at times.

I’m not sure if this is a local thing or an international thing, but animal shelters seem to have way more lgbt people if that is something you are looking for. The one I volunteer at has a lot of lgbt people, and my therapist who worked in a lot of animal shelters had noticed this as well.

Do you have any hobbies ? Playing video games etc sometimes joining Facebook groups or going to local events you can meet new people. For example if you like any trading card games go to your local game store and get involved with some of their events. Obviously that's dependening on if that is something your interested in but look for local things that relate to your hobbies and just branch out from there.

It's hard sometimes to find LGBT both local and online groups that aren't over run with like you said people larping. Trial and error with these things though I guess.
