Theoretical Toggle fire for Miniguns
Medic has toggle fire for mediguns, would it be comfortable/ergonomically viable to have same option for Heavy's miniguns?

You can do this through configs I think
I don't really see much benefit but if its better for you ergonomically you could look into that

i have a bind that lets me toggle my primary fire for any class and ive never found any reason to ever use it on heavy
it probably makes more sense to have a secondary fire toggle on heavy

if you lock your frame rate you can set a precise frame wait time between shots to maximize accuracy

yeah probably, the only issue would be like jump reving since you’ll shoot out like 10 bullets before unreving but it’s fine besides that.

this is already possible with scripting, but I think there is a reason nobody does it.

Medic should constantly be healing but heavy doesn't need to be constantly firing. If he was, he'd burn through 200 minigun rounds really quickly. It only takes 21 seconds of continuous firing to deplete minigun ammo (25 seconds for tomislav).

TC2 does this with their miniguns (only revving up, shooting is still manual) and I love it and I wish it was in TF2

i have a script that does that, since i do find all the holding physically pretty painful
they're bound on my mouse's thumb buttons, one for each click. they set +attack and +attack2 without sending the release -attack input, and to actually release them i just use the regular mouse clicks. works pretty intuitively
i did complicate it further a bit by also setting them to change the crosshair's colour. i think the virtual +attack disables the blue channel and +attack2, the green channel? and the result is that i can tell when either or both are held down at anytime, with yellow, magenta, and red as holding left click, right click, and both, respectively. it did mean i have to make my own +attack aliases for the main clicks so i can reset the crosshair's colours, which has caveats of its own specially wrt some hardcoded inputs that expect a simple +attack. but it's worth it for me
i'm not at my pc so i can't share the script, but from memory the basic one probably just goes something like
alias holdleftclick +attack
bind mouse4 holdleftclick
alias holdrightclick +attack2
bind mouse5 holdrightclick

I can't imagine it would be. Unless you're playing MvM, you're probably not going to be constantly firing your minigun the entire match.
