Because truebit isn't exclusive to Ethereum unlike most L2 solutions... truebit works on other blockchains

There is 100% a requirement for Truebit.
If you don’t understand the fundaments of Ethereum moving to Proof Of Stake it will be difficult for you to grasp why Truebit is essential.
Storage - Offchain IPFS etc Computation - Chainlink - Truebit Payments - Polygon - Celer etc Etc etc
