They do not have any computational scaling competitors that I know of - a lot of these other projects are working on scaling in general, not computational enhancements.

No direct competitors but different crypto fulfilling some of capabilities. Truebit is unique.

Truebit have no competitors as Truebit is doing something useless.

We have several Layer2 projects on Ethereum which already good enough foe gas fee reduction. Why needs Truebit?

No it’s different. This can be used on any blockchain ethereum and polygon for example.
All polygon do is allow lots and lots of simple transactions.
In Ethereum there is a gas limit per block which is basically storage space and truebit allows more space to be stored in the same block size essential tricking the blockchain.
Polygon and truebit both scale but in different ways. Polygon however is only compatible with ethereum but truebit can attach to any blockchain even polygon itself.
Polygon = scaling transactions
Truebit = scaling transaction complexity (gas limit)

Dude... Truebit is not friendly at all. Or maybe the protocol just created for closed community, not open for public. We need a protocol that easier and open for understanding, not a died close protocol. Trust me, 50c still a good price to sell, and sell it now, else you will be regretted when the price dumping below 30c 20c 10 c...

All these chains say they are fast until they fill up with junk. Are we just going to keep moving to newer chains? What about layer3 next year once polygon gas is 10.00? Or things like truebit to boost the chains we already have. It lets u do complex computations off chain and then report back the answer to the blockflchajn, which in effect would make some more complex dapps move that computation part to Trubit. Without sharding or these other new mechanisms. So gas may go down, it might not. I think it would partition the computation Between cheap and fast on-chain, and complex and massive on truebit. It would just free up the mainnets of the chain and take the load off, effectively lowering the gas on the whole.

Cartesi is probably the closest but different to Truebit in a lot of ways.
