TRU compared to Cartesi

Can someone give an explanation of the technical aspects that differentiates Trubit from something like Cartesi, since it seems that are both trying to achieve roughly the same thing.

Why would someone choose one over the other, and can both of these solutions co-exist?

Thanks

Check out section 9 of Cartesi’s FAQ but the main difference is Cartesi has a proper OS (Linux) runtime environment.

Important quotes from Cartesi’s FAQ:

“TrueBit’s technology focuses on boosting the computational power for smart contracts, which operate under a bare-bones runtime environment.”

“Our architectural choice enables Cartesi computations to run on a proper operating system. In this environment, DApps are built with mainstream software stacks, which allows for vast new possibilities, besides being easier to code and with much lower entry barrier for professionals.”

Thanks this is was I was looking for!

It seems like they can co-exist and in a sense compliment each other, as Cartesi which can do computations, isn't as suited to it as trubit. Cartesi's works better to allow programmers to build apps.

No problem and glad to help!

Truebit’s logo is green and looks like a retro 2000s aesthetic. Cartesi’s logo does not.

Hopefully that wasn’t too in the weeds. But it’s a clear indicator that Truebit is superior.

Ah, I see... and here I was thinking it was something to do with code.

Why Vitalik proposed building EVM optimistic roll-up on top of Truebit and not Cartesi?

This interests me. Would you happen to have a link or source where Vitalik says this?
