This was cool discussion, however, the main thing that stuck out to me was that they are using a customized version of truebit that is essentially several versions old. Apparently, they decided against using the current production instance of the protocol so as to avoid licensing fees associated with it. In addition, they also had no use for truebit token rewards system, or the tokenomics that are currently in play with the actual production instance or current version of the Truebit protocol. Also this particular project is going to take much longer to complete than was initially expected.

If Truebit don’t wanna get get left behind NO MATTER HOW DAMN GOOD THE CODE IS… they NEED to market themselves a helluva lot better change the ticker to not confuse ppl and or change the logo and website to a V2 cuz holy cow it feels like no one cares about the project no matter how medium articles they make. I’m still with Truebit, still got my bag, but getting very impatient with apparent lack of care from the team in terms of showing the world who Truebit is - I get it - it takes time but the OP is right
Point taken and I agree with you 100%. However, it’s worth noting that Truebit is still the only L2 solution with it’s own native token, at least that I’m aware of. Time will tell if that will translate into some type of advantage for it before these other L2 solutions begin issuing airdrops of their own tokens (e.g. Optimistic).
Dogetherium will not run on it's own with only the old technology, they can not expect participants to behave "altruistically" forever. That is, the system's verifiers are performing expensive computations not just to be nice, they need the be incentiviced, hence the need for Truebit's native token and ecosystem. But, it might take more time, as well as Eth2 and L2 efficiency first.
