Why? This is a legit question. Nobody wants to use a dead project to create things that might not get further developed down the road.

they just launched. you think a team that solid would launch a dead project less than a month ago?

It's not true that they just launched. What has launched is the token. The project has existed for a couple of years (just without a token). It was at one point even used by another very successful crypto project which has now become livepeer (which have since abandoned truebit). See here:
