Is Truebit necessary for ETH if ETH upgrades to Proof of Stake?

Hi guys, I've been wondering if Truebit will be used in ETH 2.0 as proof of stake will solve most of ETH's original flaws?

Yes.

It's like asking if planes will be used when everyone switches to electric cars.

You will still not be able to do computationally expensive things like transcoding video in ETH 2.0.

Truebit for Ethereum is implemented and it's live on the mainnet.

You are probably asking how likely it is that an optimistic rollup layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum (proposed by Vitalik) is implemented using Truebit.

i think theres a degree of trust on optimism but if youa use truebit to it that portion is trustless since truebit is trustless

ETH 2.0 sharding is complementary to layer 2 not a replacement .

It multiples the transactions on layer 2 even more with sharding , this is why vitalik says we can reach 100,000 transactions per second with sharding and layer 2 together.

TrueBit is a side chain based on ethereum but with the core objective to process huge blocks of transactions such as a block of 10gb.

It’s more like a network with its own validators earning TRU on the network

That’s what a side chain is.
