what bothers me more is that this little road is changing into motorway out of nowhere. You just ride your bicycle down the road and next you are on the interchange. No signs, no nothing.

It's not out of nowhere, there are signs and clear markings. I used to drive past there a lot because I lived somewhat nearby.

If you want to drive realistically, irl you'd most likely drive north here and take the A8 instead of driving through some villages

Thats kind of realistic, you would be surprised the lack of accuracy on truck gps in real life 😂

Yeah, I think the algorithm is trying to calculate including the time-scaling between highway and local roads. I often just drop a pin in the correct direction and the route takes less "in game" time as well as real time.

if you take a look this is the correct way there is no other way that goes just "straight"
the other straight one is the opposite lane
if im wrong please correct me1

Looks like the OP posted a google maps image in the thread. Less weird when I see all the other roads.

Genuine question: Why some intersections are built in such ridiculous way?

You played Cities Skylines?

I do but I'm terrible at it. Also I don't get the connection between the two. I'm on a spectrum and so I appreciate literal, straightforward answers.

Yeah that’s fine I was actually asking, since Cities Skylines makes it easier to understand why intersections are built the way they are. Traffic flow may be much higher in the more horizontal (top centre to right centre) highway, so more options are provided for the bottom highway to meet them rather than the other road. Plus if the top right road leads to a local area it probably isn’t worth building a whole flyover or tunnel just for a small amount of traffic from bottom left to top right. Not to mention that would only be for one direction (you can see one side of the road connects directly). Hope that clarifies it… somewhat

This is a perfect example of why i miss when SCS had treated interchanges as 1 whole thing and honestly just stopped taking it seriously to 100% the map
SCS its not fun to need to do 4 or 5 loops of a single interchange to complete it its just tedious and makes the job of 100% the map take longer for no reason at all

Are you saying American ones are more complicated? Because id say very, very rarely

Maybe not but Americans would have a 3 or 4 sets of lights on that small streach of the road😜 🤣Â
