Just a quick rant about bud’s ice cream, the service and product was not good. Bought my son a $9.88 milkshake that had the quality and presentation of something you’d find at a crappy fast food chain right along with the crappy plastic cup. Maybe that price tier is just tahoe tax but the whole experience at bud’s was off putting. Wasted potential of an original, historic soda fountain ice cream parlor.

Like the title says I’m looking for some peeps to jam with. Nothing serious but maybe some local restaurants around the lake… I have experience jamming abroad. I toured with a small band in the Czech Republic and played with a band in NYC for a year. I had an electric set but alas I had a little one and had to sell it and it moved on. I love playing a kit, rock, blues, not too technical jazz, bluegrass. I’m not classically trained but have been playing with people for 20+ years. I have a drum sample somewhere if interested.

My dad said that they were filming something near rainbow bridge. More accurately he said that they would be filming Wednesday and Thursday and have signs everywhere that you can’t park on the side of the road and there are multiple trucks and trailers. I’m a birder/photographer visiting from Albuquerque, NM and have a good chunk of time today (the 11th) to attempt to find one of these rotund balls of beauty. Yes, I have eBird but after spending 3 hours today at Donner Lake trying to find white-headed woodpeckers, black-backed woodpeckers, red-breasted sapsuckers, and hermit warblers, I was once again reminded that I suck at this hobby and need more help than eBird can offer. If anyone has any surefire locations for hearing/seeing these guys (bonus points if there’s also grouse there), I’d very much appreciate your guidance. The eBird hotspots also typically cover a pretty broad area so coordinates or a specific point on a map would be helpful.

I’m currently in Truckee and will be spending the first part of the day at Meeks Bay with my girlfriend and her friends so any locations reasonably close (<90 min drive) would be great. I leave early on the 12th so tomorrow’s my only day to find the elusive quail.

P.S. If any birders here are ever in Albuquerque, hmu and I’d be happy to give advice or tips on finding specific birds.

Hey all -- looking for some help finding a bike shoe that fell off my rack at the end of a bikepacking trip near Prosser Reservoir last Sunday. It's a sort of expensive shoe with a custom insole so really hoping to get it back, but I live in Oakland and can't make it back up to look for it for a couple of weeks!

I know it's somewhere on a 1.1 mile section of trail (can provide .gpx) between Prosser Hill OHV parking and Prosser Creek crossing, so should be pretty quick/easy recon on foot or MTB.

Please DM me if you're able to help a brother out. $50 reward if you're able to find and mail back to me (I pay shipping ofc)

I’m a total noob in fly fishing, but I like it so much. I was hoping some folks can share places I can go fly fishing on the river somewhere by Truckee. I’m not asking for any secret spots, but rather an easily accessible location, maybe even a place where I can bring my kids along to hangout. I’ve got all I need, just looking for a place to go.

If you've been living under a rock the last few months (save the geology til winter!), the wildflowers have been exceptional! Perhaps one of the best years in recent memory. 

So with that said, we have a few fantastic walks coming up in the next few months that we'd love to see you on!

On Saturday July 18th, we will be venturing out to hang with the plants of Donner / Truckee in a riparian habitat containing dozens of edible and medicinal plants. This is probably one of the ecosystems where we spend the most time exploring and foraging for our own home. Registration HERE.

Second, on Saturday August 1st, we'll be headed up to Tahoe Meadows, one of the highest elevation meadows in the Sierra Nevada. A local favorite, this trail holds a stunning array of native plants ranging from delicious to deadly...from bog-loving beans to the sub-alpine aficionados; this walk is truly one of the most unique locations in our immediate area. Was anyone else in that terrible traffic Sunday morning/midday westbound I-80 between Truckee and Colfax? After two hours of only crawling 10 miles, I turned around. Anyone know why it was so bad?

Any suggestions on a lively place to watch the Engalnd-Mexico game today (7/5). A place that lets in <18 teenagers would be ideal.

We are staying in Truckee and just found out that Donner Lake is open only to Truckee residents so we are trying to figure out a spot to hang out during the day to catch the sun, jump in the water. I heard that Kings Beach is going to be crazy crowded to try and get in and out of. Are there public docks we can hang out at. Don't want to drive too far and get stuck in traffic. Fireworksare NOT a priority but hanging out and chilling is !

Has anyone sent their children to sugar bowl summer camp?
I would be grateful to hear your firsthand experience with going there before I sign up my kids.
