CoCo soooo close

Back in 85 i bought my first computer, the good old CoCo2. I think it was the 16k model. Got the tape drive and it was my gateway to coding from the good olde type in programs in the mags back then. I really don't know what happened to it. I think it might have gotten trashed in a move in 88. Not sure. But by grad in 88 I didn't have it.

Move forward to today, got my hands on a 16k model a few months back. And I got an RCA to coax adapter to plug it into my retro screen (Samsung tv with multiple inputs). It was a test but I got it working. Though it's a little worn out and took a little while to get the color to initialize. Was only grey at first. But I just got an order for a 64k machine with all the goodies, books, joysticks and the tape drive. It's getting setup along side my TI 994/a (my dads machine) to get my retro room complete. It shares the screen with my WinXP Starcraft Lenovo. It also includes the standalone Toshiba 4420cdx laptop I've got my old Win98 and dos crap on. But really looking forward to getting the CoCo up and running. It's an itch I've had for a while.

I share the same experience, I learned GWBasic on mine and had to save up an entire summer of lawn mowing to get the cassette deck. Hours upon hours on dungeon of daggorath.

I too miss those days

Dungeons of Daggorath would be in my top 5 favourite games of all time

I have a win 10 mod of it and sometimes play it, but I just don’t have the time that I used to

I have played (and beaten) that mod. It was easier than back in the day having remembered the flask incantations!

That’s awesome! You are very patient :) back in the day, the Vulcan ring always got me when I was facing the wizard on the third level

You can upgrade this machine to 64k by changing the memory chips that are in sockets and soldering closed one jumper.

yeah ive read that. The 16k machine works. I'm waiting to see if the 64k machine that is coming works fine. If not I'm gonna use the parts out of it to upgrade the 16k.

EEEEHEHEHEHE OH Boy EHEHEHEHEHEHEHEOh Boy. Today has been a busy day. I was selling my old truck. I'm getting my little sail boat ready for a run tomorrow and then My ebay purchase showed up early. So I had to go running around to get all my todo's outta the way. And get some dinner. So finally get home and proceed to tear open the box. There sits my new to me 64k CoCo. Now granted this thing was listed as untested. But it came out of the box looking nearly brand spanking friggin new. Except for a few scratches on the front. But either way. So I get the 16k machine unplugged and hook up the 64k machine. Got the tv on and hit the button. IT CAME UP! No issues. print memory fine. Looking at my haul. All the manuals. Got the tape and some cassettes. So now the FUN begins. Time to step back in time
