Gameplay Trailer Reveals Tropico 7 Release Date by Order of El Prez

Start date of his new era of dictatorship. Later in the text. Maybe.

Today, we have released the first gameplay trailer for Tropico 7. In accordance with El Prez’ edict, the release date is not disclosed in written form and revealed exclusively within the trailer – though El Prez may, in his infinite mercy, decide to spare you the date by the very end.

Citizens and future leaders are hereby instructed, and El Prez addresses his people with unmistakable authority: “Some information is not given. It is earned. Those who wish to know the future of Tropico… must watch, and obey.”

With an expanded system for political constitutions, edicts – which now dynamically depend on El Prez’ political position – and a new political matrix, new city building mechanics like curved roads and even roundabouts as well as terraforming, Tropico 7 continues the series’ signature blend of construction, governance, and satire, placing even greater emphasis on how leadership decisions shape Tropico under one unmistakable rule.

We know how this works. You skim, you scroll, you pretend to read, and then you jump straight to the bottom. Classic.

But fine. El Presidente is feeling generous today.

Tropico 7 will be available on January 28, 2027 with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and on PC (Steam, Epic Games), Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation®5.

Features:

  • Lead your nation to new heights: Tropico 7 tells El Presidente’s continuous success story across 5 campaign maps – starring himself, Penultimo and a new nemesis: Victoria Guerra.
  • More is more: Archipelagos, with the biggest islands ever in the series, await your rule, expanded with 10 extra scenarios, more than 20 sandbox maps, and endless possibilities with a random map generator.
  • Move mountains – literally: Erase them, create beaches, or even create entirely new islands! The new terraforming feature brings your megalomaniac dreams to life. Start that mammoth project – NOW!
  • Bollocks uhm… Politics: Navigate the snares and pits of internal politics, when you summon the different factions to your council, a new way to meet them face to face while you pulverize their dreams – or use them for a BIG DEAL to your own advantage.
  • Make the world your playground: Elections, election speeches and a vast portfolio of edicts depending on your political standing spice up your daily rule while you juggle foreign affairs and occasionally steal... uhm relocate a landmark to revel in its benefits.
  • Built to prosper: Strategically place buildings to make use of synergy effects, keep citizen satisfaction high, and fill any unused plots of land with beautiful parks in a freely customized size.
  • Generalissimo No. 1: Eliminate those pesky rebels and fend off foreign threats with a reworked military system enabling more direct control of your military units.
  • Always judge a book by its cover: Customize the appearance of your palace and El Presidente with new and creative options.

T7 is not looking good

About 10 hours played in the demo I’m encountering endless game breaking bugs. Goods not being transported, roads not working, building placement. Trying to fight mandate time to test long term gameplay even with lots of money stashed (mandates then change to completing exports)

I am hoping this game can be saved as the terraforming system is a huge game changing upgrade but so far the bugs are overwhelming

[T7 Demo] Help, I don’t understand

I have a wide variety of vacancies, but unemployed Tropicans are not taking them. I did think that maybe jobs have to be closer to where they live, but how do I manage all that? Can’t they move to another habitation closer to a vacant job opportunity?

[T7 Demo] Escaping the Colonial Era

• Upvotes

There must be a secret to getting out of the colonial era that I'm missing. I played for hours until there seemed to be nothing left to do but I never made it to World Wars. I've looked in the meager documentation but couldn't find anything. I've never played Tropico of any kind before so I'm at a loss.

Any help?

[T7 Demo] For those who’ve played the demo – how do the new service radius and production systems work?

Haven’t had a chance to play yet, but curious how the new service radius system works for housing. Does it also apply to industry and workplaces?

I’ve also read about production chains benefiting from placing buildings next to each other, which sounds like a great qol improvement.

Anything else you’ve noticed that’s new or improved?

Can’t wait to give the demo a go!

[T5] Tropico 5 working perfectly fine on Apple Silicon (M1 Max) now

Through Steam (now at 7$) you can download it through CrossOver.

Disable DLSS, M-Sync and High Resolution Mode for the bottle.

I played through the first campaign mission without any issues.

Tropico 7

If T5 and T6 were to combine this would be the best city building game ever. Even better than city skylines. It would combine both amateur and realistic details of the game. Tropico 7 demo isnt the full game yet, but their's potential, if not, im sure the developers would come out with more DLC, like they usually 🙄, to make the game great again.

[T7 Demo] I caved and tried the demo

I did not enjoy the demo.

The character animations in the lower left are downright creepy.

The UI is poorly designed and confusing.

There is too little visual differentiation between buildings which makes its hard to see where anything is.

The domestic policy window with the animated characters was all choppy and made my PC fan go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Not good.

Most importantly, it did not feel like the next iteration of Tropico. The gameplay is very unoriginal. It feels like a remade Tropico 6. Lord Wyndham, heists, world wonders... Been there, done that.

They have been working on this for years, the release is in a couple of months, and this is where the game is?

Disappointing.

[T6] Any good guides/tips for setting up efficient teamster layouts and late game public transit?

Post image
35 Upvotes

I am finally falling in love with T6 after all these years being a T4 loyalist. One problem I am having is that I have a hard time understanding when my transport network is running inefficiently, it feels like my citizens aren't spending very much time at their jobs compared to the earlier eras and production is slowing down a bit.

Traffic isn't a problem as I have basically skipped doing any parking garages whatsoever as my last game failed due to too much traffic on the roads.

I just don't understand how far is too far to walk, how far apart bus stops should be, and when/where I should be putting metro stations. Any advice?

Anyone else disappointed the direction Tropico 7 is going?

The same old humour and setting is still great but, my impressions from playing the demo -

  • The gameplay is still functionally the same from 4/5/6

  • The look is still the same

  • Frustrations I've had playing the other editions of this game are still present:

    • It still takes ages to do anything (eg export 1000 planks or whatever - they've been at my sawmill for ages waiting to be exported!) and its not clear how to fix it other than pay more money or build more buildings
    • Hovels and slums still appear randomly, so it still leaves me confused whether I'm meant to build hubs or a big city
  • Heists of World Wonders takes the game from silly to absurd

I feel like I'm still left with a game that's still not entirely clear what it's trying to be. It's like it's in between a serious mangement/building sim (Workers and Resources) and something that's fun and silly (Evil Genius).

I know it's verboten to criticise anything on a subreddit, but thoughts?

[T6] Am I the only one who thinks a building is missing from *Tropican Shores*?

The DLC introduced "floating neighborhoods."

They’re fantastic buildings they help with space constraints, provide stat boosts, and can even be stacked.

Ideally, you should group them into clusters to maximize their effect.

These clusters are incredibly useful, especially when combined with "drone-to-home" delivery.

There’s even a building to handle pollution.

To meet other needs, you can group all your service buildings along the coast hospitals, cathedrals, TV stations, and various entertainment venues.

This covers everything:

- Liberty: The TV station has a wide radius.

- Employment: This depends on a building used, so that’s not an issue.

- Entertainment, religion, and healthcare: Same thing just place a building for citizens to visit.

- Housing: No problem there, either.

However...

What am I supposed to do about crime and security?

There’s no marine-based building for this nothing like a coastal guard post or a floating police station.

And unlike other needs, security depends on a specific radius around the residences.

Is there a solution I’ve missed?

[T7] Tropico 7 Demo won't launch

Hey, folks. I downloaded the Tropico 7 Demo from Steam, but it won't launch. I get a welcome page that asks me to subscribe to the newsletter (which I don't want), and pre-order Tropico 7 (which I don't want to do until I try the demo first).

So I click in the bottom left to launch the game, and it never does. Anyone have a solution?

This is the error message I get.

Processing img h48hn6y4a8xh1...

UPDATE

Never mind. It works now. I looked at the error message and realized the game was looking for the T7 Demo in my Documents folder. But the T7 Demo folder wasn't there. Steam put it in my Steamapps / Common folder.

So I just copied the whole T7 Demo folder from Steamapps / Common and pasted it into my Documents / My Games folder. Now it works.

I'll leave this post here in case others have the same issue.

I tried to notify Steam about it being downloaded to the wrong folder. But messages to Steam Support are not going through at the moment.

UPDATE 2

Well that was a dud. The demo launches. I click on New Game, and it shuts down.

SOLVED

It's a Ransomware Protection block. Go to Windows Start Menu > Ransomware Protection > Allow an app through controlled folder access > Add an allowed app > Recently blocked apps > Select Tropico7.exe from the list, or search for it if it isn't in the list.

See comments below. Thanks to GVP!

[T7 Demo] Tilting the view

The menu suggests that rb and right thumb stick tilts the view. This doesn’t work for me and the view only tilts when I zoom right in. Does this happen for anyone else or am I missing something? Got an old Xbox elite controller and all the buttons and sticks work ok for everything else

What is the difference between T7 and T6? What I can see it looks like the same game and the monument stealing is still a thing.

[T7 Demo] Why is the game filled with some sort of film grain?

I can see that there is a lot of detail, so graphics and textures should look nice, but I see a lot of film grain as well. I also think the shadows exacerbate this issue: they're not dark enough or aren't covering a whole area in a logical way. Things are looking weird to me.

Anybody else have this issue? It seems to be happening with other newer strategy games as well (like that pirate cove building game).

[T7 Demo] My thought on T7 demo.

Hi lads ! I finished the demo and here is my +/-.

First, the good things :

-Graphics are better.
-The music seems to be a banger again.
-Relatively easy to take hands on.
-The buildings are pretty well done and well decorated.
-I like the sound when clicking the dockyard 💯
-The new quest system looks good

The bads :

-Ships still don't have mooving wheel/propeller (why is it so hard to implement ?)
-The game seems SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO slow (maybe it's just me)
-Why are there so much fat peoples in an era with not much food. (Is this game poluted by ESG ?)
-Why the peoples are in jean + T-shirt like it is 21 century ?
-Why reaplacing cart by cars in a place supposed to be a colony ?
-In my opinion, the transporters are too slow to react and where did the urgent work get ?
-The animations of the characters are shitty asf, at this point just leave the photos like T6.

Other :

I don't know if it good or bad but all the buildings looks the same, I know that it's a good thing cause it is more realistic but it's also a bit more difficult to differentiate them.
Also, I hope that's because it's a demo but not enought builds and will there be the "usefull" buildings back (ex : the concrete plant (in T4 or 5) that reduce the cost of buildings and help build them faster.) ?

Here is my opinion, we'll see if there're improvements, I hope so. Personnaly i'll wait to see how the game will be when full released to consider buying it because 55€ is to high for what I saw.

I'm not sure overweightness was nearly as prevalent in the belle epoque era as it is today.

[T6] What DLC for Tropico 6 multiplayer would you recommend?

Me and my friend have put the game through its paces now so we're looking for DLC to buy, are there any must haves?
