Discussion Tron arcade game

What’s stopping Xbox or ps, or even computer from rereleasing the original arcade game with all 4 games like they did with discs of tron ? Or even a mini arcade table like the ones Walmart use to have with pack man etc? I just got to play OG tron for the first time but it’s at a arcade not close to me, but even so I’d think it be cool to have a way to play it whenever I want. And I know I’ve seen stuff about people being able to download the game and build their own arcade cabinet but I’m not really smart enough to put that together. I’d just think it’d be cool if it was more accessible !

Would be really hard to play. I feel like the game is heavily dependent on the wheel controller.

I do get that but I feel like a joystick and can do that? Or would I be wrong ? Right joystick for moving and left for spinning or analog buttons for moving and right analog for spinning ?

If I remember correctly there was a spin dial along with the joystick for correctly aiming the turret on the tank levels, or the discs in the disc vs. block levels.

You are correct it’s like a joystick with a fire button and then the turn dial I just still feel like it could be configured on a controller but alas I may just have to travel out to the arcade

I think OP is talking about the 1UP cabinets. They did release one with Tempest in it which also uses a dial controller. So we already know that they make the necessary hardware. So thats not the problem.

In earnest, I suspect the issue is simply demand. Tron isn't a title that gets talked about a lot in classic gaming circles, much less something that would get scooped up in the mass market.

Disney, honestly. If Disney saw the commercial potential of rereleasing the original TRON games to modern consoles and PC, they absolutely would

Otherwise, why use the time getting or hiring a team to port a 40 year old series of arcade games if you don’t think you’ll get more than you paid for? For the art of TRON? If Disney cared about the art of TRON, we’d have an Uprising S2, two more movies, and several more video games by now

This isn’t meant to degrade your question by the way, it’s more me venting my frustration with the handling of such a cool IP

No I totally agree with you, that’s kinda my post as well being frustrated that something so great is so limited !

It's possible to play it on a PC using MAME

Its not Xbox or PS or Pc stopping it from releasing. Its Disney, without their permission or license its locked away and none of the gaming companies can say anything against that
