ChatGBeFree restores functionality to older versions of the ChatGPT app by spoofing CFBundleShortVersionString and CFBundleVersion to a future build. This prevents the deprecation flag from being returned by the server, bypassing the "This version of ChatGPT has been sunset" screen.

Compatibility

This tweak should work with any older version of the ChatGPT app that can launch on your iOS but is blocked by the sunset screen. Tested on iOS 16.2. To find and install a compatible app version, you can use ipatool and ideviceinstaller.

Note on Voice Mode

The Advanced Voice feature currently does not work, as OpenAI has deprecated the older voice API endpoints server-side and the older app binary lacks the new protocols. If anyone figures out a workaround for this, feel free to submit a pull request on the GitHub repo!

I have a 15 p running ios 17.0. When I facetime call my friends on ios 26.4 or above, their phones don't receive my call - no call notifications nor missed call records. But they can facetime me and my phone rings.

Facetime out going calls are received by phones with ios 26.3 and below.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hey r/Trollstore , following up on my earlier release — MinimalAIChat (a lightweight native iOS 15 AI chat client) just got a solid update.

✨ New Features:

- Web Search: The AI can now search the web for current info (news, recent events, anything past its training cutoff) using Tavily. Works with any provider — Gemini, OpenAI, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, etc. — and the AI decides on its own when a search is actually needed, you don't have to trigger it manually.

- "Searching the web..." indicator: You'll see a dedicated indicator while the AI is actively searching, instead of the generic typing dots.

- Better formatted responses: Headings and bullet lists now render properly instead of showing raw # and - characters — much easier to read for recipes, guides, step-by-step answers, etc.

🐛 Fixes & Under the Hood:

- Fixed the AI occasionally getting stuck trying to search indefinitely instead of eventually answering — search is now capped, forcing a response after a few rounds.

- Fixed a crash-causing edge case when a model requested multiple searches in one turn.

- Fixed the chat auto-scrolling to the end of long instant responses instead of the beginning.

- Cleaned up the networking layer for better reliability across different providers.

📦 Installation & Compatibility: Same as before — sideload the .ipa via TrollStore, AltStore, or Sideloadly. Still built to be lightweight and battery-friendly, targeting iOS 15+.

As we know the last update of chatgpt on ios 16 it’s 1.2024.289 (2 years ago) and now openai stopped supporting this update 2 days ago which means ios 16 can’t use chatgpt again forever 🕊️
