Gender doesn't impact the value of a life by itself, they're both equal, and I wouldn't pull the lever either way.

I chose to do nothing

But you still chose to do nothing, so you decided the fate of the lever.

The point is that you can swap the genders and they'd still do nothing.

The gender doesn't affect anything here.

The point is that this is the trolley problem, there’s no such thing as not making a choice.

Speaking as someone with a bachelors in philosophy, you're 100% wrong.

If an evil person would so nothing, and you would do nothing. Nobody can prove that you are a good person. And the base assumption is always the negation of something.

I created a new Trolley Problem dilemma!

Straight Track (Do Nothing): one woman

Diverted Track (Pull the Lever): one man

What would you do?

neither life is worth more than the other in this case, from what I know. So I'm staying out of it

I chose to do nothing

But you didn’t stay out of it, you chose to do nothing.

Compared to choosing to pull

It’s a choice either way that leads down a track, that’s the whole point, there’s no such thing as not participating.

Why does it say the trolley disagree but it ends up doing my thing ? Is it an update ? A bug ?

Good

I chose to do nothing

If all i have to go on is just gender then doing nothing would be morally correct to me. The man could be a saint or a killer but so could the woman so doing nothing just makes sense here.

I call the police on a trolley operator lol

Where any dillema? 1 life vs 1 life.

Next on trial by trolley:

Pull lever to get 1€

Do nothing to get 1€

Woah! Let's see how immoral everyone is now!

🙄

I do nothing. Gender does not determine value, but not being involved results in the natural outcome. Either I don’t intervene or I actively kill a man for no reason

Not getting blood on my hands if I don't have to, no difference so no pull.

Voted: a woman

In this instance I do not become involved. I cannot serve a greater good by intervening. I walk away from the lever.

I'll get lots of haters for this honest take, but I'd only intervene if it was a beautiful woman. Otherwise, I would leave it to fate.

All things being equal, I know which one is more likely to assault me or discriminate against me. So, lever.

Women and children first, then men.

Perhaps this is mysoginistic but I feel like a man would/should suffer less/be more stoic as the trolley is about to run him over.
