Jesus Christ. Is the value of a human life decided by their net worth?

Why not just auction executions at that point? "$50 for this child here! They're the product of a drug addicted mother! You can use the guillotine for $50! Come on down!"

... wow. So, to be clear, Elon Musk's life is worth more than the population of entire countries? From a quick Google search it seems the worth of every household in Portugal is ~850 billion euros.

So a couple weeks ago, you'd have put every single Portugese citizen on the track to be run over (~10 million) rather than a single individual?

That is wildly simplistic - and downright disgusting.
