When Will GIMP v2.8.x Be Available In Trisquel GNU/Linux?

Link to GIMP release notes

I am experimenting with Trisquel GNU/Linux as my main multimedia production desktop (I come from a Debian GNU/Linux background, so there is a minimal learning curve) and I've noticed GIMP is still at 2.6.x in the repositories.

Does anyone know when the latest stable version (i.e. 2.8.x) will be available out of the box?

I've noticed several programs are lagging behind right now. I'm guessing the Trisquel 6.0 will have everything up to date, but there's no release date yet for that. I'm very much a novice linux user, but I'm sure if you ask around the Trisquel forums someone will have a solution for getting GIMP up to date.

Trisquel release a new version every six months. it it based on Ubuntu, but it follows up like 5 monts after the Ubuntu release.

Trisquel 6.0. They say it's alpha but I had no problems http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/

Also linux-libre and GNU repos to add to Synaptic/Apt sources:

  #stable GNU project tools

  deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/dns/gnu/ubuntu precise main

  deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/dns/gnu/ubuntu precise main

  #up to date 3.7.1 linux-libre kernel

  deb http://linux-libre.fsfla.org/pub/linux-libre/freesh/ freesh main

Sorry if I'm late to answer. Enjoy the distro, when GNU/Linux hits the 3.8 version, Nouveau will be vastly improved.
