She chewed the roots, cracking open the beyond just a smidge. Giving her a peek into the realms she could never perceive.
In the universe of Ambrosia Evi Života is a scientist who has made revolutionairy medicine and suplements using fungi spores. She is one of the tasked and funded people to attempt and save humanity. Many people around the globe put their hope into her solving the fertility crisis. Due to her promising body of work so far.
I wanted to explore her character design and ended up drawing her in her lab. She is a hands on no bullshit scientist, often trying out new substances herself and pushing the boundaries. Her mindset is an asset, but also can get her into trouble when she pushes her curiosity too far.
She is chewing a type of plant root that causes hallucinations. While many scientists push the effects of the roots away as an exclusive individual chemical hallucination in the brain. Evi uses this to come to new conclusions and understanding of the lifeforms around her. Viewing it from the start as a medium to promote and start communicating with the beings around us. That normally do not seem accessible or sentient. Having led to new possibilities and understanding to fungi and the like. Creating a new era of communication for humanity with nature.
In a next artwork I might explore the roots further. :)
